Is the sitting position important when meditating?
I'm new to meditating and when I'm sitting I find it very uncomfortable. I try to sit in the burmese position as it seems to be the easiest but I don't think I'm doing it right. I can only sit for 10 minutes before I get pins and needles in my leg but I just continue on sitting for 20 minutes even though I'm uncomfortable. Should I just continue on like this, will the discomfort go away in time?
I find it much more comfortable to lie flat on the ground, is this OK?
Thank you : )

No, there are only two things 'important' in meditation.
1. Staying awake.
2. Meditating - lengthening the gaps between thoughts..
Have fun - don't stress ;)

You don't have to be in any position, you just have to be comfortable. Some people find adopting a specific position sorta conditions them to fall faster into a meditative state, that's all. :)

Don't open up that door to the demonic. Meditation leaves you vulnerable to demonic spirits, I have done this and got very ill when I was 15, only recently has the Lord been able to get me off my medication and has healed me physically and mentally. Do not open that door. Jesus said I am the way the truth and the life and you cannot get to the father but by me so if you want to go to heaven you got to go through Jesus...do a prayer of salvation, pray to God and ask him to cleanse your mind heart body soul spirit and life and ask for forgiveness of sins (such as lying etc) recieve that forgiveness into your life and ask him to help lead direct and protect you in Jesus name. God bless.

It relies upon on WHICH meditation workout i'm doing. for a rapid morning value i take advantage of a standgin place prevalent because of the fact the megastar for many chakra workouts i take advantage of an upright seated place stated as "The God" in many texts. For some execsises i take advantage of "The Earth" posture, mendacity on my lower back in a supine place. For my runic meditations i take advantage of what are prevalent as Stadha (plural Stodhur) wherein one bodily shapes themselves into the form of the rune itself. it is a short checklist of a number of postures I even have used at distinctive cases over the direction of my coaching... The God: take a seat in a chair, head up, lower back promptly, knees mutually, palms down on the knees (or chair hands), eyes closed. The Dragon: Kneel, buttocks on heels, ft lower back, lower back and head promptly, palms on thighs. The Ibis: Stand, carry left ankle with good hand, left forefinger on lips. The Wand: Stand upright, yet no longer stiff, lower back and head promptly, hands comfortable at sides. The Earth: Supine place flat on lower back. The megastar: Stand with the ft a million and a million/2 shoulder widths aside. improve the hands out to the sides parallel to the floor with the main excellent palm up and the left palm down. Tilt head lower back to align the chakras. comprehensive Lotus: take a seat pass legged with the main excellent foot over the left thigh and the left foot over the main excellent thigh. a million/2 Lotus: take a seat with the legs crossed however the ft are no longer pulled to take a seat down back upon the thighs.

What are you meditating on? The posture or your state of mind? If you focus on your state of mind, you'll forget to feel pins and needles. ;)

what works best is what makes you comfortable... sitting helps your breathing technique ... i
