I've been asked to take on a cat, but I already have a kitten of my own . . .?

I am moving house soon, to a new area 150 mile north of where we are now. My family is moving from a flat to a house. But the family that are coming here are downsizing and have asked us to take on their female cat as they don't think she will do well with moving to a flat and in a new area.

I have my own kitten, also female, and although I love her and she is definately part of the family I'm not sure I would take to another cat. I am also very unsure of if they would fight?

I wouldn't want either cat to feel pushed out or get hurt.

Any advice?

your cat will be fine take the other cat near your cat and see if they fight and if they do fight then give the cat to a friend

Hmmm.. well it really just depends on the personality of them. I couldn't imagine them fighting, but your cat may hiss or growl to show who's boss, and might not want to play with them, which'll make the kitten feel upset because this was originaly the kitten's house, and now some big adult had taken over it. But eventually they should both settle down, and become good friends.
