Green light blinking on smoke detector?
Ok. First off, I'm terrified of fire. I'm home all alone and my mom wanted me to make something on the crockpot. I followed her directions and everything seems ok. But I noticed a green light blinking on my smoke detector. This is my first time noticing it. The detectors are about 3 weeks old and installed by ADT. There's also a red ligh, but it's not on or doing anything. Is the green light normal? Goes off about every 10 seconds. And will the cooking smell of the crockpot set it off? Thanks. Sorry for being all anxious about it.

Most smoke detectors have a small light which blinks periodically to let you know that it is connected and working properly. Sounds like the green light is telling you everything is fine. Smells do not set off smoke detectors, only the ionized gases that come from combustion ((burning) do that. When the detector goes off to indicate a fire, you will know. It will be loud, very LOUD!.

first off, dont press any buttons on the smoke detector. its normal. if there was any problems your keypad would be telling you.

It should have a "test" button, press that and see if it goes, WAA WAA WAA WAA
