Would you agree that this is an affront of freedom of speech?

A state legislator asks the boss of one of the Baltimore Raven's football players to shut him up to keep him from voicing his support of gay marriage.
Is this worse than what happened with the Chik-Fil-A ordeal? Yes. Because this is asking a single man, and not a corporation who is using money to discriminate against a minority, to stop his freedom of speech.
Why are people so hypocritical?
A public legislator is telling the BOSS of an employee to restrict his freedom of speech.
Uh, yes it is a violation of freedom of speech. In contrast, what happened to Dan Cathy was NOT a violation of the freedom of speech.
@Ralph: You are an idiot. What is his statement if not political? Supporting gay marriage is no where near close to yelling "FIRE" in a crowded building. To state a similarity is idiocy, and you have represented this characteristic very well in yourself.

Yes, I would agree that this is a blatant violation of the first amendment.

The U.S. Constitution only protects "FREE POLITICAL" speech.
It does not give you the right to yell "FIRE" in a crowded room when there is no fire or to call someone a liar unless you can prove it.
Everyone else has the right not to listen to the speaker.
The football player should exercise good judgment on when he makes his statements so as not to possibly violate the terms of his contract with the team who can punish him for violating the contract.

Sure, it's a violation of freedom of speech.

Sure it's a violation. So what? I read ranting questions like this and I'd like to restrict someone's freedom of speech too.

It was a boring story when I heard it the other day. Suggesting that someone not talk about something is not an abridgment of their free speech rights.
