Two questions in one, Is it ok to ask were your previous vet is and has anyone had a vet practice just upn go?
Is it ok to ask what may have happened to the previous vet you had when you take your pet/s to the vet. I asked once but didn't the second time and am curios as to where this vet went she was nice and knew what she was doing when our cat had vertigo. It just seems like it is improper to ask the new vet where the other vet went.
Also has anyone had a vet that just closed their practice and didn't write to say that they were closing so that you could get your files on your animals? This happened to me after one of our cats passed away 7 years ago. Shortly after her passing we went to go see if we could get the file on that cat and our other cat and noticed that the clinic was no longer there and a new buisness was in his place. We were never notified by phone or even sent a letter saying that he was closing his practice. We think that the city was investigating him for mal practice but have know idea what happened. Has this happened to you? Let me know thanks.

First question: sure it's okay to ask about your previous vet. You might get more info from the receptionist, but if not, ask the new vet. If she went to another clinic, they might be reluctant to tell you (not wanting to lose your business), but they SHOULD tell you.
Second question: I never had that happen. I suggest you contact the Vet Association in your city or state and ask them. The vet *should* have either transferred the files to another vet, or else stored them. Though after 7 years, I guess it's more of a moot point.... I agree, though, that clients should have been notified.
