Do you know what happened? Seems strange?

I had been getting to know this girl over a few months and we were on the verge of starting to date when she says, "I'm not ready." The semester ended. Next semester she comes up to me in class and says, "I have a boyfriend." We tried to "talk" but it seemed to get nowhere. When I asked why Iwas not told sooner as had been going out with this guy so weeks before telling me she said, "I did not know I was dating." I dropped it and kept it friendly till the semester ended. Then weeks after the semester ended i get a text saying, "lets have lunch." What gives?

Update:

Sullivan...I broke contact after the Spring Semester. Believe me, she would have been thrilled if I stayed in touch. That's what she wanted. I think the ladies here are closer to what is going on which is one of two things according to their answers: (1) Just a friend or (2) Back-up. I'm leaning toward just a friend. As for the other dude, I think she got herself into a negative situation but that is not my problem. Thanks for the answer.

She misses you as a friend.

Dude, ill put this in the best way I possibly can. She just isn't that into you. Let me break down the situation for you.

    1. You get to know girl, she gets to know you.

    2. You begin to venture down the path of "dating," she stops you and says she isn't ready.

    3. You see her at the start of the next semester, discover she got a boyfriend.

    4. Texts you a few weeks later, asking to go out on a date.

Now, let me decode this for you! You both got to know each other, she decided that she doesn't like you. She doesn't want to hurt your feelings, so she says she isn't ready. She breaks contact after the semester ends, and finds someone she does like (starts dating that person). You see her when you get back to school, tells you that she now has a boyfriend, and then again breaks contact. Her boyfriend probably leaves her, and she comes to you as a BACKUP plan. She knows that you like her, so she is taking advantage of that since she probably feels lonely (after a break up).

Solution: Walk up to her, and tell her that she LOST her one chance. Maybe throw in there that she should use this as a learning lesson.

    Good luck :)

She is confused as to where she stands with you and wants to hang with you when she has nobody else. She is not that into you and maybe you should be careful around her. She wants to talk to you when it suits her and does not care much about you. I wish I had a better answer to give.

it seems to me like she's been playing you just incase this relationship with this other guy dosent work out! like as if you are a back up plan so she dosent have to be on her own!

or maybe she just wants to have you as a friend and not as a dating partner :(

    good luck
