Our 2 year has been refusing food.?
For the past couple of days our 2 year old DS has been refusing anything solid. He doesn't even want applesauce or his favorite candy. I even tried McDonald's but it was a no go. He went from 2 bottles to wanting 4-5 a day. He doesn't seem sick just cranky from not eating and I guess he's energetic enough. I'm just really worried. Any ideas?

Wow! I'd say take him to the doctor if he keeps it up! Does it look like he may have a sore throat or a sore in his mouth? Or maybe he's teething?
If you think he may just be in a picky phase there are some things you can try:
Make him a fruit smoothie (maybe he'll like that?)
Fill up his bottles a little less so he doesn't get totally full on just milk.
Eat together
Let him eat off of your plate
Just give him a little serving of whatever you want him to eat (so he doesn't feel overwhelmed)
There are more suggestions at http://www.toddler-tips-and-tricks.com/get-your-to... but they are more geared towards toddlers who aren't eating healthy food, and not toddlers who just aren't eating.
Hope he feels better soon!

Is he severely underweight?
If he isn't stop worrying, and stop offering junk.
It is absolutely normal for toddlers to go days almost without eating, then suddenly eat like a grown man. This is what they do.
Why is your 2 year old being given bottles? And he shouldn't be having more than 3 cups of milk per day maximum. More than that risks him becoming anemic. Move him to sippy cups, let him drink 2 cups of milk a day (whenever you want him to drink them) and the rest of the time water only. If he is drinking a ton of milk then he wouldn't eat because he is full from all the calories in the milk.
if he is under the 5th percentile then you may need to cater to him, and worrying about him not eating may be in order. But for a child above the 5th percentile you should NOT be trying to get him to eat, you should be offering the most healthy appropriate foods you can and just letting him eat from those. If he doesn't eat it doesn't matter, because he isn't underweight.

that's carefully universal habit. I had a 2 12 months previous cat in severe college after that have been given a 6 week previous woman kitten so as that he could have a chum (my mom now has the two cats). We additionally moved some month while we've been given the kitten. He went via the comparable factor. I nevertheless undergo in concepts the day that they ultimately grew to become "acquaintances" (some week after the circulate), and now they are thoroughly inseparable. Your older cat is laid low with fairly some rigidity authentic now. purely supply it a while and as quickly as issues are settled down from the circulate, i'm confident each and every thing would be effective.

Check to see whether he has some molars coming in. This sounds like the way my daughter acts when she's teething (as she is right now, a month before her 2nd birthday).
Try giving him a little Tylenol. This may take away the discomfort so that he'll eat. Otherwise, let him have milk as much as he wants until it stops bothering him. If he continues not wanting to eat for two weeks, make an appointment with his doctor.

Athena,
This has to be very frustrating and worrisome for you. Sometimes children go through phases where they eat less or become picky eaters. Also, he could still be teething, and this could be causing him discomfort. Children's appetites do slow down after the first year. However, if this goes on for a protracted period of time you should talk to his doctor to rule out any medical reasons for refusal to eat.
If you would like to talk more about this issue with a counselor, please don't hesitate to call a counselor at the Boys Town National Hotline, 24/7, at 1-800-448-3000, or go to www.parenting.org for more information .

Stop giving him bottles
its that simple. Throw all the bottles out, a healthy child won't starve themselves and stop bribing him to eat. He either eats what is served or he gets nothing. Sounds like he just wants to drink from a bottle and you are caving and allowing it so of course he's just going to want a bottle

Probably getting his 2 year molars. If he's not hungry, don't force it. He'll eat when he's up for it. Keep him hydrated.
