What is an appropriate way to say "too old to work"?

I am trying to write something regarding working age and retirement. Since the article first mentions "people of working age have too much time on thier hands", I am trying to say the article is too broad, because it mentions retired people, who are too old to work. But I don't know how to say "too old to work" without becoming offensive or repeating the word "retired"

Retired is the only good word to use. You work your butt off all your life, you deserve to be RETIRED!
