Fram Tough guard oil filter any good?
I just changed oil and filter on my Civic. My brother said the engine wont last because those filters have cardboard end caps. Are Fram filters that bad?

They are nearly as good as NAPA and Carquest oil filters which are made by Wix. K&N is a high priced joke. K&N does not publish micron filtration performance. Wix does.

Determine out Youtube and search oil filters I think you will come to a decision neither of these filters are excellent, Fram (honeywell) filters have paper end caps within, and are poorly designed there have been a couple alterations made but now not with the paper finish caps, The AC Delco has a plastic core aid tube and in case your engine gets too scorching or the filter will get plugged and it uses the pass valve the plastic aid tube crumples and may ship particles into the engine. I say neither is a very good filter, and clearly the Quakerstate filters are excessive excellent and do not rate an excessive amount of, also Purolator filters are just right, as good as Wix. Bosch is not unhealthy too.

The factory warned us at the dealer that Mitsubishi's will develop noisy lash adjusters if Fram filters are used. They are too restrictive. It's always best to run factory made and designed oil filters.

Yes, they're cheap. They're known for the filter media to collapse and allow unfiltered oil through your engine. I use Wix or Mopar on my Jeep Wrangler.

they can,t be all that bad or they would not be able to sell them ! but just to make sure i would stick with what the car calls for ! if you want a good filter at an affordable price then get a puralator !

Wix is about the best volume mass produced filter which is readily available.
For the very specialized stuff, it's Donaldson.
