Knee pain after an accident?
I had an accident over a month ago. I was running through an airport and fell on a moving platform (flat escalator) I know it was silly but I was very late for a connection. Anyway it 'cheese grated' my left knee almost to the bone requiring stitches and my right knee was severely bruised. 5 weeks later and I am finding it very sore to bend my knees. I am wondering if I have possibly caused internal damage as the superficial bruising is gone and the cuts are healing. I am wondering if there is anything I can do about this, bending my knees at 90 degree angles is painful. I was told I could lose some mobility to my left due to the doctor cutting away skin and the skin needing to stretch. From what I gathered this was simply due to skin not internal issues. So if anyone has an idea what it could be please help!

skin tightening is completely different to 'pain'.
I am quite sure you have a meniscus (cartilage) tear. Meniscus is soft tissue that protects the bones from each other by acting as a soft surface for them to glide on.
When you bend your knee any deformity in the meniscus can be felt as 'pain' in the knee area (although meniscus is on every joint in the body)
A sudden fall, similar to the fall you had, would be easily sufficient to tear meniscus.
Your first ting to do is go to your GP & tell him/her you want to see a specialist (may take a while) and get MRI & xrays, which will help find the root of the 'pain'.
When I was younger I torn a ligament in my knee, I didn't go to doctors and it healed poorly. When I went to hospital they were surprised I coped with the pain. I then, after 4 years of ongiong pain and disruption I had my surgery & when they opened my knee up the surgeon said I have the knee of a 50 year old, I'm only 20!
Good luck, get it done quickly !

I suggest that you see your GP and ask for referral to a specialist. I had to ask for a second opinion from another doctor after injuring my rib cage and was sent for an ultrasound scan that confirmed broken ribs. Take care. 'God bless. Gladgran
