Collect cat's urine for next appt or have them do it?

My male cat is being treated for having urinary issues and crystals. He was checked last week and was pretty good, protein still a lil high and he had a lil fever (week after starting treatment). They will want to see him again and want me to bring a urine sample. Not sure how hard that will be. Should I just take him and have vet take the sample or is that too hard on my kitty? Hes a nice gentle boy at home but turns into a demon at the vet so dunno if they just dont wanna deal with him or if they think its harder on him to have them take sample.

Update:

When you say aquarium stones are you meaning the gravel type stuff? When I first heard "stones" my first thought was the decorative stone rocks but that can't be right lol

If they have to take the urine it's a needle inserted into the cat that they'll charge you for and be quite painful for your cat.

Go to a pet store and get a small amount of aquarium stones. Empty out the litter, put these in the pan to fool your cat into thinking its litter. Once your ferret goes, tip the pan and since the stones won't absorb the urine it'll go into your container. Needless to say, do this OUTSIDE or over a garbage can.

Try and collect the urine. When he's in the litter box wait till he starts to pee then slip a clean, thin foil plate under the stream to collect. Maybe put a little less litter in so you can get the plate under him easier. I have done this for my dog....it might work.

Transfer it into a clean container and store in fridge until appointment.
