i asked a similar question and got similar results to you bro... from what i gathered this is the situation - Adam and Eve, having NO previous exposure to ANY kind of choice at all, get thrust into this awkward situation where they have to exercise their free will for the very 1st time. They are give 2 arguments, one from satan and one from god. god says - dont do it, you will die. satan says - do it, you wont die. now take note that death is not even RELEVANT in the garden of eden. adam and eve have no concept of human death at all, how could they? they are the 1st 2 alive. so now their choice is "something we cannot possibly even grasp is gonna happen if we eat this" and "nothing is gonna happen, just eat it". if i was a rational being, faced with a choice such as this i would simply eat the fruit. the argument against it is complete gibberish to me and the argument for it at least gives me some fruit... simple really.

Well let me ask you a question then - if there was absolutely no possibility in the world for man to sin, what would you say the purpose of creation was? Why wouldn't G-d just keep everyone as souls in heaven rather than constrict them into physical bodies? Because according to what I believe the purpose of creation was to choose good over evil, which Adam and Eve were perfectly capable of even though they didn't. But choosing good over evil is pretty hard to do if there's no evil, don't you think? So I'll ask you again, if you don't agree with that purpose, what do you think the purpose would be for a completely non-sinnable world?

when God created humans in his own image, humans are a lower form of angels.
We lack everything, we are made of dust. While angels have spiritual being/DNA and bodies.
since we lack everything- we sweat, go hungry, get disease, clueless, not much IQ, 100% naive, no knowledge.
now the Forbidden Fruit is meant to be used to 'experiment'.
Let's say Adam and Eve did not actually eat from the fruit.
They would have worked and walk with God/Jesus and obeyed him in every way.
God would have seen his magnificence creation evolve. From Adam and Eve spawned different children/off springs.
Now Since God instruct the humans to do "this and that" as they obeyed frankly. God can say "Adam look at your 3rd son Josiv, give him that Forbidden Fruit to eat and see what happens".
Adam obeys and gives Josiv the forbidden fruit. When Josiv eats the fruit, he dies "spiritually" however his Soul expands in knowledge. He sees things Adam and the rest could not see.
He now knows something about Free Will, how to Rule, Control, Defile, Obey, Disobedient.
Now Josiv starts to live with them for years, while doing so, his minds grows spontaneously.
God tells Adam taht Josiv is wiser than them all But he can't stand his sight because he sinned and he's basically dead. Josiv is basically a zombie but doesn't know.
God then tells Adam to feed Josiv a fruit from the Tree of Life. Adam obeyed again, and Josiv ate from the Tree of Life.
Then Josiv sprang back to life spiritually from being dead.
Now I don't know what tree of life fruit does.
But this can prove that Josiv is now back in the original Human form, cleansed from sin and no longer dead. In fact he could even be -immortal-.
The positive thing is that Josiv is now a higher being to Adam and rest and possess vast knowledge. More importantly, he now knows what is right wrong, rule, control, defile, kill, love, sad, obey, disobey, free will, life etc (everything Adam and others do not even know yet or slow to learning).
This is where Josiv can then govern Adam and the rest because he knows about obeying and disobeying, free will and control.
Source(s): Eve did not know what was right or wrong! Satan deceived her. God instructed them NOT to eat from the fruit and they would die. Satan lied (father of all lies) and told them they would not die and see the truth. Eve did not KNOW she would "sin" BY disobeying God, when she ate, she did not die. She gave it to Adam, he forsaw she didn't die instantly, and he accepted and partake. This is why we humans keep evolving, you can see from 1880 to 2012 how our technologies evolved. Our minds just keeps expanding constantly. Angels already know all we know. - 9 years ago
Some say:he was testing mankind (while also believing that He knew in advance what would happen), so what kind of a test is that? Plus He also knew in advance that his little trick will make sure that most of man kind will go to hell (since Christians believe that only few will be saved)
so the answer is: some ideas in Christianity are really screwed up and don't make sense, but it's hard to see it unless you can see the whole picture (as I've just explained) and so most people can believe something that doesn't make sense because they don't see the whole picture at a glance

If we go by Genesis as we must you are provably wrong on 3 points and right on NONE.
ALL was good, very good in God's eyes so that must have included the tree.
ALL that God did was good for Adam and Eve and the only implication that it was not so came from someone who had done nothing for them.
The reasoning of Adam and Eve and the Serpent shows that they did not agree with you. Adam did not say anything against what he knew was ALL to the good -- and his good especially.

The Abrahamic god seems to enjoy torturing, teasing, and sabotaging his creation.
So do many other conceptions of god.
I am glad I am an atheist.

The Adam and Eve story was a myth that tried to explain how death, toil and other woes came into the world and why we aren’t immortal; and like the Greek Pandora myth, a woman is blamed (and by extension, in a patriarchal society, all women). It also explains why people consider snakes as enemies.
The first man and the first woman live in a state of primaeval leisure and innocence in the garden of Eden until, tempted by the serpent, they eat the fruit of the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil" in defiance of God's wishes. It was one of two trees in the garden, the other being the "tree of life".
These trees are thought to represent two originally separate traditions which the biblical author has brought together to express his view of the origin of the human condition. The first tree belongs to a distinctly Israelite tradition. The "knowledge of good and evil" probably means the capacity for rational and ethical judgement. This attribute belongs supremely to God, who forbids humans to acquire it. After the first human pair has defied his command, God condemns them and their descendants to a life of toil and pain.
He drives them from the garden in order to deny them the fruit of the tree of life, which would bestow the other divine attribute, eternal life (Genesis 3:22-24). Thus humans are like God in one respect but, unlike him, they die. In this distinction lies the vast potential but also the limitation of human existence.
A sacred tree that confers eternal life occurs in many mythologies and is common in Near Eastern iconography. Numerous myths of the region explain that humanity is mortal because one person failed to eat a magical food that would have made them live forever (one example is found in the Mesopotamian epic of Gilgamesh). But the story in Genesis is alone in stressing that humans continue to suffer death as a direct consequence of their disobedience to God's command.
In Sumerian and Babylonian mythology, Adamu was the first man. The gods tricked Adamu and his descendants out of immortality - not wanting man to be immortal like the gods - by telling him that the magic food of eternal life was poisonous to him, and as such Adamu didn't eat it and so didn't become immortal.

He has the right to do whatever he wants. They only disobeyed when Satan planted that seed of doubt. Instead of trusting God, Adam and Eve thought that God was with holding something good from them. They thought they can rule themselves. That's why they ate from the tree. Jehovah God knows what we need and gives it to us when we need it. He has our best interest in mind, that why he sent his son Jesus Christ to die for us.

It impresses me that He would give us the dignity of facing consequences for our actions. Perhaps you would rather that He were more like a cosmic Playground Attendant, but it is not necessarily worse that He is not.

God put the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the Garden of Eden to give Adam and Eve a choice to obey Him or disobey Him. Adam and Eve were free to do anything they wanted, except eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Genesis 2:16-17, “And the LORD God commanded the man, ‘You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.’” If God had not given Adam and Eve the choice, they would have essentially been robots, simply doing what they were programmed to do. God created Adam and Eve to be “free” beings, able to make decisions, able to choose between good and evil. In order for Adam and Eve to truly be free, they had to have a choice.
