Who else thinks the Military should be strictly combat related?
What is the point of having regular 9-5 jobs in the Military? That just wastes money when the same jobs are in the Civilian world. So why waste your time doing something in the Military that you can do in the Civilian world? For example: a mechanic. I am sorry but I believe that the Military should just be combat only. Anyone else agree?
It is just a simple question everyone lol. I only did this because I am bored so all of you can get your panties out of a wad and stop being such a priss lmfao!!

not your everday civilian will want to deploy to work on broken vehicles. a lot of the jobs are necessary for military but some are being turned into civilian jobs.

The truck taking food up to the soldiers is shot at, and break down. You want to send a civilian up to fix it? No - a military mechanic is needed - the civilians won't go, and couldn't defend themselves if they are attacked.
This is just one simple example - ALL in the military can be called upon to fight. But, if there is no actual war going on, you will be at a base, fixing regular vehicles. Come war - you are ready to go.

I completely disagree. The military needs lots of people with different types of jobs to help out. A civilian mechanic could not work on a $35 Million Harrier Jet. The military needs all different types of personal to help it be successful.

best answer is money. The average soldier makes about 40-50 grand in one year of deployment (that includes combat pay) while they pay civilian contractors at least six figures. Almost all the civilian contractors I talked to in Afghanistan were vets who got out and then went back as civilians to earn over double the pay. Scroll to the bottom of this link if you want proof.

The military, by necessity, has large amounts of mechanical equipment - trucks, jeeps, tanks, planes, ships, etc. Mechanics aren't there for fun. They're there to make sure that equipment functions perfectly when a combat situation comes up.
You don't seem to have thought this through.

How are you going to support the soldiers if you don't have cooks, supply clerks, communication specialists. The military doesn't exist soley in the field, there is an army behind the scenes supporting the soldiers.
Btw, who's doing to fix the equipment if there are no mechanics.

So just boots on the ground huh? No intelligence or operational support? Just strictly combat? Well then you'd be just as disorganized a Compton street gang. "Yo b'turtle, cap dat turkey asz mufucking mosiliniem (Muslim)

Well someone has to fix the tanks, trucks, etc. Someone has to cook. If everyone was a grunt, they'd all be dead without combat support. This is a dumb question.
- ☦ICXCNIKA ☦Lv 78 years ago
No as you need suport roles so that you can fight.
You need mechanics to fix your tanks and other equipment so it would be ready for battle.
What you are doing BTW is known as trolling.

Good question, though ''NO'' i do ''NOT'' AGREE!!!! Even before W.W.I and W.W.II and after, ''ALL ALLIED'', ''COMMONWEALTH'' and even ''AXIS'' MILITARIES have ''OPERATIONAL COMBAT AREAS and NON-OPERATIONAL COMBAT AREAS''!!!! If they serve ''HONOURABLELY'' during that ''THEATRE OF WAR'' or ''THEATRE OF SERVICE'', in that area for a certain amount of time; their ''MEDAL RIBBON-CITATION'' will represent this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
