Speakers on my laptop go fuzzy after a while, making people sound like a robot?

I have a Dell Inspiron with Windows 7, I THINK it's my sound card, but need confirmation. I have plugged in external speakers and the same happens, it gets to the point where I don't even understand what song I'm listening too because it just turns into a robot singing with crackling background!!

So, is it my sound card? If so, how do I repair it myself?

Thanks!!

    Hi,

As the sound works fine for a while before becoming fuzzy, this issue could be related to heat build up inside the system. Make sure that the system is kept on a hard surface in a well ventilated area. You may also try cleaning the air vents on the system using a can of compressed air and see if that helps.

You may also try updating the BIOS and Audio drivers.

Note: While updating the BIOS, battery should be > 10% charged and AC adapter should be connected. Please disconnect any external peripherals connected to the system.

You may download and install the latest versions from the link below:

    http://dell.to/N6u34S

On the link, enter the system Service Tag and click on ‘Continue’. Select the operating system and it will display a list of available downloads.

If this does not help, the audio adapter might be faulty and the motherboard might need to be replaced.

    Hope this helps.
