Anyone seen this before.....?
My cat (11yo male, inside only no claws) saw his reflection in a mirror that he's been around since I got him in 2001 now he growls and hisses at his reflection like it's another cat, he's ready to fight! I turned the mirror around and he stopped, but when I turn the mirror back around he sees himself and starts growling again. Is this a sign of any illness, he's the only cat but I do have a small dog (Boston Terrier), or could his mind just be going?

The average life span for an indoor only cat is 12-16 years, so as they get older, some things you may notice include aching joints, lack of energy and inattention. They may be walking with a purpose, and then forget where they were going and what they were doing, perhaps they’ve started to forget once familiar guests or have brief moments of confusion when faced with certain situations. This type of decrease in "concentration" can be expected with age.
Although the aging process can cause some memory loss, marked memory loss is not a normal sign of aging and may be a symptom of pet senility or other conditions such as tumors, injury or illness affecting the brain.
So bascially, it could be either - an illness or just simply aging. It might be worth getting him checked out though, just to be sure :-)
