I filed on jan 26th , Accepted on the 30th and I had the normal message " Your tax refund is being processed you can expect a return within 21 days" but 3 days ago it changed to the same message your showing " Your tax return is still being processes . You will have a refund date as soon as one is available" I see ALOT of people have gotten this message ( so thats a good thing ) I tried calling the irs for 3 days and just kept getting RUDE people who wouldnt give me answers but I finally got a nice woman yesterday and she said that it's showing they didnt recieve my return until FEB 4th. I KNOW that is incorrect, and I saw someone else on here said they told them the same thing.. She says that there are NO errors or "red flags" on my return so it just sounds like the IRS had a mess up in their system and we are the not so lucky ones that had our returns involved in the mess up..She says its processing now but I was also told that about a week ago so whatever the mess up was I just pray they have it fixed and we will be pushed to the front of the line for refund dates.

***************UPDATE*********** 02/08/2013 - I was FINALLY able to order my return transcript today which means they are DONE processing my return so I will hopefully have a DD tomorrow or maybe Monday since its the weekend !!!! I will keep posted.

System just updated this morning and I now have a DD of 02/13/2013 !!!!! Everyone with this message DONT WORRY you are NOT being audited it was a mess up on IRS part, nothing to do with HR/JH/TT and you WILL be getting your DD soon! !!! Try to order a transcript from 2012 Return transcript and if it lets you then your done and will have a DD within 2 days IF it doesnt let you order then you are still processing and it will be up to 1 week before you get it.

Just would like to take a moment to share my experience with this years tax season, A lot of people getting the 'return processing, refund date inc' message seem to be searching for answers on the topic.

For starters let me say that no two returns are ever guaranteed to run the same process. Last years vs. this years means nothing for a few reasons like, your tax bracket changed, the tax law changed, or being randomly selected for hand review. Any of which can increase processing time regardless of whether u had the same job for ten years or not.

Another thing to consider is the Wheres My Refund tool. This is not the end all answer to what is happening with your return. Its a very basic indicator that isn't equipped with a whole lot of potential responses. If you have your return stuck on 'a refund date will be provided' and WMR is telling you nothing, you need to obtain your tax transcripts from the irs page to get more information.

These are available at irs.gov under the Request Tax Transcript link.

A note on acquiring these: If your return has not yet been processed, and you moved since last file season, when it asks you to verify your information, lasts years address will be on the system as the address on your most recent completed return. That will be needed to verify. Conversely, if your return has already been processed, this years address will be needed to verify.

Also if after verifying, this years transcripts are not available, your return has not even been processed. If any work is done to it, a transcript starts and a chain of codes are documented for each step along the way. Once a transcript has begun you can use it to get much more information than checking the WMR 6 times a day. Anything done must be recorded on the transcript which updates daily. Nothing new on transcript - no progress.

On your account transcript monitor the list of codes on the bottom of the page, anything of the sort of 'Notice Sent' is an immediate red flag because the irs snail mails any correspondence. You will see a negative balance (meaning the irs owes you) on your transcript of the amount you expect to receive. The goal is code 846 with refund issued, which means the money has moved. Unless snared by a debt of some sort, the money is coming when 846 arrives and the irs account transcript shows they now owe you a balance of $0.00

I had the same problem , i filed thru h r block like i have for last 10 years , but have found out they have done away with the refund cycle calendar that based on three week where basically if you get your refund accepted by 11 am on Thursday you would get it back n 8 days on the following Friday , Also everyone keep in mind it doesn't matter when you filed the IRS didn't start accepting any returns til 1-30-13 . So guess we will get it back on the 18th , I know next year I will file thru the IRS free tax program , maybe they started with those first , at any rate it really suck , I have a 17 y/o who wants a car lol!!!

((( update))))) 2-9-13 , i got my dd date today , i think what it was was that our returns were ready but could issue a dd date cause it would be on a weekend date so they put that up till the direct deposit date would be on a weekday , it says my dd date is 2-13-13 so thank the lord !!!!

I also filed thru H&R block on the 30th accepted on the 31st for the past 6 days I have had the generic message of 21 day wait with 1 orange bar and today I wake up to this. Could H&R clock be the factor?

Filed with TT on the 28th received an "early acceptance" notification on the 29th. When I checked WMR on the 30th I had the same orange bar as everyone else then all of a sudden it changed to "Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available." I've been looking at this same message for 2-3 days. Called the 1800 automated number, it said the same exact thing as the website. Thought maybe TT could give me additional information, clicked on their WMR, it stated that my refund had been accepted. Clicked on their link to try and figure out when I would get my refund... TT estimates before the 2/19??? Hoping for a miracle at the bank in the morning... this is beyond ridiculous... it didn't take them 21 days to take the money out of our checks every month...

2/8/13 - Hey everyone, I just checked the IRS website and they have updated my status. I now have the status bar back and the "Refund Approved" portion is filled. Here is the message I received:

"Your tax refund is scheduled to be sent to your bank on February 12, 2013. If your refund is not credited to your account by February 17, 2013, check with your bank to see if it has been received."

Oh Happy Day!!!! Stay positive people!! It seems they are working the issues out.

I FILED ON THE 31ST AND ACCEPTED SAME DAY. Checked last night right before midnight and same message-refund is being processed. Now I check it this morning and it says a refund date will be provided when available - I'm hoping this is a good thing since I'm seeing a lot of people with it...good luck..please update

I filed my return on 2-1-13 and was accepted the same day. My status went from one orange bar to:

Your tax return is still being processed.

A refund date will be provided when available.

I filled off my W-2 and listed my 2 children. I didn't do anything wrong. I called the IRS and they told me when my return came in it fell in the error department. The lady told me that it can take up to 32 day to find out what the error is. Well hell, If they know it's an error then they obviously know what the error is but can make me wait up to 32 day. Then what if I have to send in documents???? Look like this is going to take a couple of months. I have also called 1-800-304-3107 but no debts were found. What is really going on? I filed my taxes January 2016 and it has been saying "it is being process and a refund date will be provided". It has been 7 months and I still have not received it yet. I called the IRS 4 times already and they said I should get it as soon as it is released. It's almost time to file again. This is some bullshit.

OMG I just checked mine and its sayingn the same thing and ive about had it.. its been processing over a week, I know there is a significant portion of people that got their returns and I need to know what the hold up is.. im calling them now... this is crraazzyy

P.S. I filed with HR Block also.. seems to be a common ISSUE! I Will never ever use them again

My return was also accepted on 1/20, and until now had the orange status bar saying my return was being processed.

I got the same message today, "return still being processed... given a date when available".

It's kind of nerve racking I know, but it seems like a lot of us are getting this message.

Heather I also fired with h and r block.

I tried calling the IRS but can only get an automated system, I would love to talk to a real person to get some real reassurance. But it seems like the people who have talked to a live person have been reassured that its because of a glitch..

Hopefully it works itself out soon !
