Humanity, are we too far gone to save?
Human society I feel is quickly reaching a point where I believe we will no longer be worth saving. We are capable of such beautiful things, such awe inspiring acts of kindness and yet I see that depths to which humanity has fallen in the past and continues to fall in the present. Such hatred for others based solely on their gender, beliefs, looks, religion, sexual orientation. Its difficult for me to see a solution, how humanity can pull its act together before it it self destructs or worse...continues to destroy this planet and then dies out. What can be done? How can we as a society bring about change?
I appreciate the answers, well some of them. But I do not believe in god or any supreme being out there. I cannot and will accept that there is some being out there who sits back and watches all of us or the universe for that matter. And while yes change begins with one's self, I am not looking for what I can do but what Humanity can do.

We don't need saving. We can save ourselves. We just need to learn to be good to each other. Simple to say, not so simple to do.

I do not believe in god, but if one exists, they say that "god helps those that help themselves", I'm not waiting around for anyone. It's up to us.

Voice of reason ... good for you, if only more people thought like you. It's up to us, not some unknown, unseen entity. WE make the world we live in.

is the human race too far gone to save? I'd like to say no, and agree with people being hopeful that humanity will collectively pull through these hard times and the harder times to come. My personal opinion leans towards yes, we as a race are too far gone to save. This is the age of hypocrisy. We as a race have had many an opportunity to stop what we are doing that will drive us to the end, and yet we have not. At this point I can only hope that there will be some scattered survivors who will have learned from our mistakes, but in that possible future, at that point it might not matter. we should have left the cradle of our race and taken our place amongst the stars, we should have found a way to mitigate age old hatreds, we should have done many things, but for the most part we simply sit idly by in hopes that someone else will do it for us. This is of course personal opinion, and I hope will be proved wrong. I doubt that I will be though. At least it will be a relatively slow and lingering death of our race, as that still provides a sliver of hope that we as a race might actually survive and have actually learned something. Understand surviving and living, are two different things.

This is hilarious. You think the world is worse than it used to be? First off, the population of the world that dies from murder/war is far lower than it has ever been in history. This is the most equal genders have been to each other, ever. Are you really saying beliefs and religion? Remember when every war was about religion? The only killing due to religion at this point is by extremists. Sexaul orientation is the biggest joke of all. We are at the point where sexaul orientations are as equal as they have ever been. In the US it used to be illegal to commit Homosexual acts, many of us lived in that time. Now there are a decent amount of states that allow them to marry. You are beyond looking at the glass half empty, you are looking at a half empty glass as being 3/4 empty, and this is coming from a pessimist.

I think we are more tolerant than ever before. We would be less violent too, but now we have the technology to kill many people with the push of a button.
I think we have wrecked our planet to the point it would be very hard to fix now. I don't see much hope for our species. We've survived so much already, but I think there will be a huge culling soon.

I think so.. I was thinking about it today while watching the news with my mum, it was talking about how there was a huge snow-storm coming around Toronto, a police officer killed some people for no reason, and if you add it all together, the human race is seriously plummeting downhill. All I want to do is curl up into a ball until I die and go to heaven. Seriously. ._.

Everything starts with education.
If every school on this planet had classes/programs to stimulate empathy and understanding, we'd soon have a much better world-wide society.

Fear not, like Elvis, God has left the room, only for the moment. You have observed society thumbing it's collective noses at Him, with porn, gay marriage, abortion, corruption all in defiance of His word.
Hang in, prophecy is right on track, and we will have learned lessons which we will never repeat, and be part of His Kingdom on Earth, and through the universe for all Eternity. Stay tuned.

We are not much different than day 1 - there are just more of us now and it has become more obvious what a bunch of f*ck ups we are. But hey, all part of God's glorious plan.

Just look at how many more of the answers on here are negative instead of giving support.

Most people probably say to themselves, " I am not looking for what I can do but what Humanity can do. "
Humanity can not move forward if thought is chained to self.
