Which college is better (for B.Tech Mechanical) ? [Tamil Nadu]?

Pls rank them if you can..

=> AMRITAA, Coimbatore

=> VIT

=> SRM

=> PSG

[excluding IITs, BITS & NITs]

add any other colleges if you think are good too(can also be in Kerala/Bangalore/AP)

I was told by some of my teachers and friends that the rankings in magazines are not very true because the colleges pay them. So i really don't have a clear idea of where every college stands in the rankings, and also does the rankings play a very important part in the quality of the institution?

I also have asked specifically which is the best of the lot for Mechanical Engg, since the ranking i believe is the overall standing of the College and doesnt say anything abt the course.

I wanted to ask these questions because I've been hearing both positives and negatives about these colleges and am currently confused on which to choose..

Thanks for taking the time to read. :)

    PSG is excellent for mechanical engineering.

    buying a tool box wont make u a mechanic!!! u need a lot of exposure in mechanical field.

    PSG has its own industries within the campus. TIFAC-CORE is for rapid prototyping.

    excellent lab's for students. coimbatore has lot of industries in and around to get exposed.

    mechanical faculties are good. no need to worry about placements.

    what else u need??
