Which of these store brand cat foods is the best?

Dry or canned? I'm assuming you mean dry?

Either way Purina and Science Diet - horrible. Avoid at all costs.

Nutro - very mediocre. Mostly made of corn with no real meat.

Authority or Simply Nourish - first ingredient is chicken but does have grain.

So the last two would be the better of all of these.

You do realize, though, that when foods have corn in them cats have to eat a LOT more food to feel satisfied? So though a far better, higher protein food like Blue Buffalo Wilderness will cost you more per pound your cat's going to eat a LOT less of it so it really doesn't end up costing you more. What I would suggest is getting a small bag of the Authority or Simply Nourish, mark the date, then see how long it lasts. Then get the same size of bag of Wilderness and do the same. Then divide what you paid by the days it lasted and see how much per day it costs you.

I know that once I was snowed in so my cats who were used to Wilderness and Evo could only eat what I could get from the grocery store I could walk to. The best food they had there was Purina One and they went through a bag in just DAYS!!!!! It's like if you had a pound of meat or a pound of cereal - which would make you feel more full?

I like Nutro Max Cat for owners on a budget. It is a good quality food compared to a lot of brands because it contains chicken meal as the first ingredient, no chicken or animal by-products, no artificial colours, preservatives or flavours as well as no whole or ground corn. Chicken meal is real chicken with the bone and water removed, this makes for a nutritionally dense, highly digestible protein source.

Simply Nourish Cat Food

Only ones I would feed from the list are Max Cat or Authority (I never heard of Simply Nourish). READ the ingredients - if you see by products or meat meal or a lot of grains, then its not good food.

I would never feed my cats any of Purina or Science Diet foods.

I am currently trying my girls on several brands such as Innova, Evo, Chicken Soup, Merrick. I have also been looking for healthier foods. Most of the healthier foods you will not find at chained pet stores. I would call around in your area to smaller pet stores and feed stores. These foods are more expensive than Purina, but the cats eat less so you end up saving money. Cats will eat as much as they need to get the nutrients they need. Cheap food is full of fillers so they eat more. The more expensive brands have better meat and less fillers. (Plus their feces doesn't smell as bad) Good Luck!

Simply Nourish for sure. Purina, Authority, and Science Diet are full of corn and other nasty crap that is not good for cats. Cats are carnivores- they were not designed to process corn and other grains and it makes them unhealthy.

Science diet ideal's first two ingredients are chicken and brewers rice. Brewers rice is a filler for dog food and not nearly as nutritious as brown rice. Purina one beyond has chicken, chicken meal, whole brown rice as the first ingredients.

I would choose either of these two before the other's.

From your choices the science diet is the best one. The purina one is junk. I would however recommend blue buffalo. It is made out of real food and no supplementary foods. It is really healthy for cats to eat.
