What would follow or happen if a 100 ton asteroid made a direct hit on Washington, D.C.?

I don't know why my thoughts go in this direction but it seems like some good things would happen after that for millions of people. I suppose Washington D.C. is comparable to the Bastille. If an asteroid had crashed into it then perhaps the French Revolution would have turned out differently. That never happened however, and the French people had to and did take action.

It would take out the East Coast and part of Canada and South America. It would send shock waves around the world and plunge what was left into darkness. The Temperature would drop. Obama would say all is well. Stay calm. I have a plan and blame it all on the Republicans. And everyone that was still living would believe him.

So if D.C. got hit, all the bullsh*t splashed up would soak the USA in a sewage tsunami.

I don't know if D.C. has an value to America besides being a haven for African-American criminal activities and an do-nothing Congress.
