When should I file my unemployment claim?
I just got fired today but on the unemployment site it says you have to be unemployed for a week to be eligible. Should I wait a week or file today?

Yes absolutely file today because you will be unemployed this entire week as far as you know and you have no other current employer. You will absolutely have no problem.

When my step daughter got laid off, the 1st thing she did when she got home was file for unemployment.
You never get paid for the 1st week of unemployment. After you file for 2 weeks, will you get your 1st check, (IF), you qualify.

File today. You will have this week as a "waiting week" and it won't pay anything anyway.
