What the Hell is wrong with the Irsish?

Against all odds the Irish fought against the Greatest Imperialist Country the world have ever seen.

We must have been a monumental pain in the **** that the British backed out of Dodge double quick time.

We've forgotton about bitching about the weather instead we ***** about how hard life is these days.

Days that was in no way the fault of the people.

We elected these wealthy incompetant fools, we actually voted them in. They serve us, they are put into Government to Govern for and on our behalf of the people they have sworn an oath to serve.

Someone please tell me why are we putting up with this lifetime of debt and poverty.

How can we look into our Grandchildrens eyes when they ask us one day, why is everyone so poor and why have I got to go to school today and learn when im going to be on the dole when I leave just like all my friends and their Mums and Dads?

Why is it our responsibility to pay every penny we will ever have on an increasing debt for the rest of the lives of ourselves, our children and our childrens children.

They sat up all night three weeks ago debating how to ease the debt of the people. Those great minds came up with deffering the debt for forty years. This means they have done nothing and they patted themselves on the back for that.

Did you vote for that, cos im sure as hell I didn't .

The Imperialists of Britain would have never pulled that sort of stunt and yet we allow these greedy Bastards to.

Our servants to do our bidding.

Could we not with Peace and Unity let our servants know that enough is enough.

Or is it best to forget the lads who fought and died for freedom.

If this is Dublins idea of freedom, then I think id rather have Imperialism.

Tell me your view on this please, as I need to understand our thoughts.

A lot of countries eventually regret "kicking out" the British and going independant. I wonder if Scotland (if they choose the independence route) will live to regret it?

A lot of your arguments against the ROI remaining independent are a disjointed, but I will try to marshal my thoughts as concisely as I can.

I must precede this thought process with the fact that I am Scottish, so I can't speak on behalf of Irish people. I can however share my thoughts from an unbiased POV.

Ireland has had a history filled with hostility from England, mainly. Ireland was 'invaded' and sequestered around about the 12th century - AD of course. Catholicism was imposed upon Ireland with all those not proselytised being persecuted. A few centuries later Protestantism was imposed on Ireland instead, with a penal system enforced upon those who refused to convert.

Recent history included the potato famine in the 19th century, where England not only sent inedible food to remedy the situation, but also evicted millions of Irish from the estates they lived on. In total, the population of Ireland decreased to 4 million from 8 million.

The UK government refused Ireland to split off and become independent, sparking riots and guerilla warfare. The partition ensured that NI who wanted to remain part of the UK, did so.

So independence really allowed the Irish to retake control of the country without the UK's imposition.

The problem exists with the financial market for many reasons, not all of it is the ROI's fault. The EU has become a federal state and the shared euro really causes problems when economies collapse (e.g. Greece, Spain, Italy, ROI etc.)

So I believe that there's nothing wrong with the Irish people, it's only because the economy's so young and the world's in a bad state that things appear bleak.

    Most of them are Catholic.

    I rest my case.

What the hell does this have to do with religion and spirituality? Please consider the "politics" or "economics" section instead.
