a person died while still owing car payments. The car is now in probate. Is this legal?

Before any of the heirs can claim it it will have to be paid off. If he had proper insurance, the insurance company should pay it off. At least my full coverage covers me that way.

Work out a deal with the rightful heir to pay it off and then take possession of the car
