Knee/calf injury from jumping rope?

Hi. I've been jumping rope for cardio for some time now, and about two weeks ago I was practicing single legged jumps. Anyway, while I was doing this I felt that my knee was hurting a little bit so I stopped. It's been hurting for about two weeks now. (I'm going to see a doctor this afternoon I was just wondering if anyone had any idea what this might be) I wasn't too worried at first because I thought it was just a shin splint. It showed all the symptoms (front of my calf was hurting when I walked and swollen). But shin splints don't effect joints. Such as knees. Every time I walk it hurts

my knee and calf. It's swollen as well. Has anyone had something similar?
