what is Shawn Michaels legacy in wrestling?

What is he remembered for? It isn't title wins. It isn't being the babyface for a number of years. It isn't a streak. It isn't winning every big match. What is it?

Speaking of kayfabe wise, Shawn Michaels might not rank very high, but I'm sure he will in Top 10 WWE Greatest Kayfabe Wrestler of all time.

Shawn Michaels might not have a great W/L Record, The Streak, and many World Title reigns. But, let's remember Shawn Michaels owned victory over Bret Hart, The Undertaker, Triple H, Kurt Angle, John Cena, Ric Flair, and Batista. Everyone in this list are elite performers, yet Shawn owned at least one victory over each of them. How many man could say the same?

Also, let's not forget that Shawn Michaels is the first ever Grand Slam Champion in WWE. That's just impressive for sure. FIRST EVER GRAND SLAM CHAMPION. Also, Shawn Michaels made these records : being the first ever man to enter no 1 at Royal Rumble to win, the first ever man to win an IronMan, HIAC, and Elimination Chamber matches. Those are so d@mn impressive.

For a wrestler of Shawn's size, seeing his ability to accomplish those, we should appreciate him a lot and rank him a higher in terms of kayfabe wrestler. And we all see Shawn Michaels rarely if ever using any dirty tactics to win from 2002-2010. Shawn, unlike most of WWE Superstars, always tries to be a role model and not bending the rules. And we see Shawn wins quite a lot of matches clean, fair, and square in that final 8 years of his career. That says something.

About non kayfabe wise, Shawn Michaels is the best performer and the greatest storyteller I've ever seen in WWE History.

    The Barbershop incident.

DX and the Montreal Screwjob unfortunately.

    WrestleMania 12 entrance and victory.

Stealing the show and winning 7 straight matches of the year 6 at WrestleMania.

Returning after 4 years and winning the first ever Chamber match.

And simply being the best the WWE has ever or will ever see.

If you mean kayfabe then it's for two things:

    1. Being pretty much the ultimate underdog. A comparatively short and undersized main eventer able to hang with and defeat the biggest guys and biggest names in the WWF/E. It was extremely rare to see Shawn Michaels in a match where he wasn't greatly over-matched (size-wise). But his skills and athleticism were such that he was able to overcome his size deficiency over and over, even against the biggest and best in the WWF/E. He didn't win every match but those who managed to beat him had to use all of their skills and they had to work for that win. Shawn wasn't a pushover...for anybody.

    2. Providing thrilling and sometimes very emotional matches. How many times did we see Shawn Michaels beaten half to death only to dig down deep, muster up his courage and abilities, use his nearly-unmatched "will to win" to indeed come back and win? Shawn had a vast array of skills he could use to keep the fans entertained from bell to bell. Shawn Michaels was and is a lot of things. Boring isn't one of them.

He's probably more well-known for his backstage and off the job crap, though. It's not much of a secret that in the 90's he was a very paranoid, very insecure, backstabbing politician who kissed a lot of @ss, made a lot of threats, and buddied-up to the other backstage politicians who could help Shawn Michaels, no matter who he screwed over. He was the very definition of party-er, partaking in drugs and alcohol like it was going out of style. He was very selfish, disrespectful, and hard to befriend. Most of the boys did not like him at all.

Then there's his "miraculous" comeback after the Attitude Era was over with. He came back a changed man. No longer a selfish backstabbing drugged-up politician, but a man more interested in giving the fans a great show, and even helping younger wrestlers to get over. Shawn wasn't afraid to lose a match anymore if it helped the show or an angle, or helped another wrestler. He had transitioned into the veteran who gave back to the promotion that made him a household name by helping that promotion's younger wrestlers get their big breaks to help ensure that promotion had a future.

large question! Umm...there are fairly some wrestlers he's knowledgeable that would shop on his legacy. Brian "American Dragon" Danielson, concepts "Spanky" Kendrick, Paul London & Michael Shane right this moment are evoked. of direction there is John Morrison! Who I see by way of fact the subsequent super showstopper in WWE. i will see HBK passing the torch to him. yet Morrison has effective super shoes to fill if he needs to be on the point of Shawn Michaels sometime! All of those proficient athletes i've got named are nevertheless interior the adolescence of their respective careers. and that they're going to all have large fulfillment in the event that they stay healthy (the two mentally & bodily) Morrison looks like the main probable selection by way of fact he's interior the WWE & is interior the midst of a solid singles push. yet all of those different cats i discussed may additionally do & will do (if given the possibility) an incredible activity of wearing on the legacy of Shawn Michaels.
