Do you have a mother like mine?

Question

What is wrong with my mother?
She looks through all of my texts/e-mails.
She records my phone conversations and replays them.
I don't feel comfortable to tell her anything.
The only good relationship I have is with my grandfather. (Dad's dad)
I often go to him for comfort or just to talk, but I always find her eavesdropping under the window or when I open the door with her huge hearing aids on.

My Dad, Mom, and Grandfather and I all live in one house.
Mom and dad never get along. (both are hard of hearing)
When I'm in my room she comes in and tells me that my grandpa and my dad ruined her life.
She literally puts her mouth in my ear and tells me everything that a daughter should never hear, only bad about me and my family.

Now, we all live in my dad's house, she doesn't contribute to food, clothes or electricity, basically living here for free. They can't kick her out because she's my mother and she'll have no where to go.

She says they bought me out with money and that its all of us against her.
When they can't see, she does pretend "kicks" at them, sticks her tongue out at them, and mutters strange spells under her breath.

I'm 17 years old and this is how she's been for as long as I remember. Not just with my father's side of the family, but with her own sister too.
I would be telling my aunt something and she would get so jealous of her and starts talking down about her.

I want to leave but I'm too young! What can I do? What is wrong with her?

I find this the rudest thing to say. it is NOT your dad's house.. it IS your parents house.. just because your mom does not work and or bring in a pay check does NOT mean the home is any less hers then yours.. do you pay rent, do you bring money do you buy food enough to feed the whole family?? does that mean the house is not yours..??  

The ONLY thing your mom sounds like is childish. and that could be for many reasons..

It sounds like your mother has an "us against them" mentality ("us" meaning you and her).  She may feel like you're the only one on "her" side and she's afraid of losing you.  She's either going through all of your messages because she's overprotective or it's the behavior of a stalker friend who doesn't want to lose you to other friends.  Her behavior sounds very immature and more than a little strange.  It's really important that you have healthy relationships with friends and other family members and not allow her to poison you against them.  Make an effort to talk to your aunt, your father, your grandfather and other family members so that you don't end up with your mother being the only one in your life (because she's going to want to go with you when you move out on your own).

I think you should definitely confront her! My mom is nothing at all like that, I mean she is protective,but not that protective and I would feel the exact same is I were you. So the best thing to do is confront her!!

Well she seems a little paranoid. And psychotic, I would say she needs counseling.
