What's wrong with my cats?
I have 3 inside cats whom are all just over a year old from the same litter, and who have grown up together. Today, somehow, one of my cats got outside, and I didn't realize it until I was getting ready for work. He was outside for about an hour or so (He stayed in the backyard), and since I saw him outside and brought him back in, my other two cats have been really aggressive towards him. Anytime he gets near one of them, the other one will hiss and maybe even smack him. They won't let him eat or use the litterbox. I've had to lock the other two out of the room because they will sit there, stare at him and hiss. Is it because he's got a different scent on him from being outside for a little bit? I don't know, what do you think?
I have 2 males, 1 female, all of whom are fixed, it was one of the males who was outside today. Up until today, they were all 3 best friends. It's mostly the female and the male who was outside who are not getting along right now.

The reason your other cats are behaving the way they are is because they don't recognize him. He picked up a bunch of unfamiliar scents while he was outside and he smells like a strange cat to them. Give it a day or so until his regular scent returns and your other cats will treat him like they normally do.

This behaviour is very common when they pick up other scents (like being to the vet etc), so I would say yes, you answered your own question.
Rub some catnip over all of them, or if you don't have any, something like baby powder, so that they all smell the same.
He may just gloat too much because he had an "outside adventure" and they did not lol.

yes its probably the scents he might have picked up the smell of another cat or your cats just aren't used to it.. cats first instinct to something unfamiliar is aggression or nonacceptance.
