Help with a dying baby kitten?
Okay, so this is NOT my kitten. It is my friends kitten, and they're not bringing the poor girl to a vet because they don't have enough money. Now trust me, if I could drive and have money or something, I would help the kitten myself!
So the cat that did give birth is extremely small, have you seem how small the grumpy cat is? A bit smaller than that and she is fully grown. She gave birth to three cats, and two of them seem to be fine for now, though I told my friend to keep an eye on them in case. But the second born has gotten very sick.
My friend has fleas in her house from her other cats, as they're all outdoor cats, and the kittens had TONS of them. They just gave them a bath today, and they're THREE Weeks old now.
The cat I need help figuring out what to do with it is barely able to open her eyes. Very exhausted, I tried to open her mouth and I'm a pretty strong person, but she just kept it shut. I figured out very quickly she was dehydrated, by the dry nose and dry mouth, so I got a small syringe and put some water in her mouth, and her tongue was stuck to the roof of her mouth, but I luckily helped her out with that.
Now, I couldn't spend the night anytime soon, so I cannot keep an eye on her 24/7, I babysit until evening anyways, usually.
As of now, the kitten cannot nurse, very weak, barely taking water. I wasn't going to give it lowfat milk, I don't even think that's safe?
My friends parents won't buy the type of milk you need, because they're just too poor. I'm going over tomorrow as well I believe, I'm not sure how to help her! I was the only one even doing anything, like seriously? They won't do crap for that girl, probably because they don't even want them. Friends dad even said 'At least that's one less kitten to give to the pound.' what.
I'm angry and I just need any advice, just the smallest bit helps! I'm torn up over this, very upset.. But yeah.. I told my mom about it and she told me she couldn't afford to help them out (She has been having car problems and can't afford it. :/)
I already have been searching for this everywhere, but I need a very specific answer please, thank you.
Yep.. Thanks, though. I was already planning to talk to them about giving the kitten up like tomorrow soon. She can't even drink the mother's milk, and I wasn't giving it too much water. Just enough where it would keep her hydrated for a little bit after I left.

Sounds like the kitten didn't have a great place to live, and their already...screwed.
Giving them up just so someone else can desperately try to save something that's inevitably going to die because of where it was born seems wrong.
If you're families are far to poor to help them, you can't.
Life isn't always kind unfortunately.
I secretly hope that the kittens make it, but I know the odds are more in their favor; to die. :(
And don't be angry at anybody! If they're to poor to raise kittens, don't get unfixed cats or let them outside to hunt and raise them. It's not your parent's fault, it's not their problem. It's your friends fault.
IF the kitten dies, you know who let their cat get pregnant in the first place.

There is not a lot of options for you. If you have NO money, the best you can do is milk a couple cups of milk with an egg yolk and a teaspoon of honey and syringe feed. Cows milk isnt particularly good, but a kitten can survive off of it and its way better than dehydration. You are also going to want to scrape/wipe all boogery stuff from the nose and eyes. Scrape the crustys gentle from the eyes and then hold the kitten by the scruff while you pry the eyes open. There might be quite a lot of pus. If you have no resources all you can do is repeat these steps.
Ideally you would buy $3 kitten milk replacer from walmart. You would go to the vet and ask for a $15 tiny tube of wonderful ointment that you apply in the kittens eyes. You would also buy a $15 small bottle of medicine at the vet to help with breathing and congestion that you would put in the formula. With these vet medicines the kitten could actually make a good recovery and be quite healthy, but without its prospects are very bleak.

oh man, i wish that i could give you something that you can do, but surrendering the kitten to the humane society is the only option. a kitten that young is very hard to help once they get sick. we had one with similar problems, we had flea too but i don't think that it was them that caused it. he was healthy and playing one week and the next, he was very weak, and wouldn't eat or drink.
i would put water and kitten food into the blender and put it on liquefy until it was like brown water. i used the wet food so that it wouldn't effect his bowel movements. you can also give a kitten goats milk (for the record) anyway, you poor the brown water into an eye dropper and feed it to the kitten. mine was 4 wks old, but it might help a 3 wk old kitten too.
i did end up taking the kitten to the vet and they are the ones who told me to find goats milk, that is similar to cat milk. if you cannot afford a kitten bottle you can use an eye dropper. and allot of dairy stores sell goats milk. do not squeeze the eye dropper to hard, you will choke the kitten to death. you use one drop then let kitty swallow, then another drop and let the kitty swallow.
i wish that there was more that i can say to help you, unfortunately our little guy was diagnosed with something that was caught too late and passed away 3 wks later. a sad situation and i even wish that i could have done more to help our little Junior. unfortunately the only way to help this kitty is to talk your friend into giving him up.
good luck and my heart goes out to you, your friend and the little baby kitty.

unfortunately, the kitten probably wont make it,,, young kittens are very fragile,,, and if they dont get the colostrum from the mom, there organs slowly deteriorate,,, I have a rescue, and have had hundreds of kittens, so I am very familiar with all this,,,, warmth is the most important thing for them, but unless you can give it fluids under the skin, and get oral supplements into it, there is really not much to do,,, especially if the mom was very young herself,, and when they are that bad, most likely even the vet cant save it,,, once their organs start shutting down there is really nothing to do,,,

They cannot have cow's milk as it's not nutritionally complete and can upset their stomach, and they should not be given a bunch of water. It's just empty calories filling her belly - worse than cow's milk. She needs mother's milk replacement(KMR). That's really all you can give her in this situation.
If they can't take proper care of the cat they need to surrender it to The Humane Society. Keeping it like this is just inhumane. It will die.

I would take it to a no kill shelter and drop it off and say you found her and they will take her and nurse her back to health that's what I did what a very sick cat I found on the street they took very good care of her and adopted her to a loving family..that's what I would do for the sake of the poor baby..if you don't take her somewhere she will eventually die...good luck ..hole she gets better

Aww, I am so sorry! Since your friend can't afford care, call up the Humane Society or a place like that that can take the kitty in & provide care. It will be sad to let a precious kitty go, but please don't let the poor thing suffer.
