How to apply 'The Secret' without constant negative doubts?
So I've been reading Rhonda Bynes book and I found it a rather interesting read.
As a sufferer of Social Anxiety Disorder from a young age, and bouts of depression I am now going through the "recovery" stage so thought turning to books and self help methods to teach my mind new tricks would be crucial in not relapsing.
So I've read the pros and cons about this book, which put a damper on things however their is an overwhelming positive response too!
So I'm thinking of defiantly giving it a try as I don't really have a lot to lose: maybe hope but lets hope not..
But I can't help but think won't such an approach make people cocky and delusional in a sense?
Like I can be a millionaire but really sitting in a two bedroomed house. I'm going to start a business but the idea is plain wrong and stupid or believing your so pretty with lipstick smeared everywhere
How do I put them doubts aside.

Law of Attraction?
~~~ No different than the 'law' of Wishing! Wouldn't it be nice if...
If it were a true 'law', everyone would be wealthy, absolutely healthy, Hollywood beautiful, and never, ever, need deodorant (or a dentist!)!
The 'law of attraction' is as scientifically and philosophically valid as the 'law' of the tooth fairy!
But if it floats your boat, have fun!

No, you are doing the right thing, and what is suggested in the book will work, as long as you focus upon it. Thoughts which are focused upon become beliefs, and beliefs working in this way attract your most habitual realities. Nothing is more powerful than focused energy, but the reason the naysayers say it doesn't work is because they don't focus on their goals long enough for them to come into being. They may focus on them for a day or two, and when it doesn't come, they lose hope and stop; but true manifesting takes a bit longer than that. You need to work at a thought or visualisation long enough for you to go beyond doubts.
The way you do this is through repetition. REPETITION IS THE AGENT OF SUCCESS. When you begin using a thought or a visualisation, it builds up a kind of psychic 'momentum,' and you need to keep at it until your new thought or belief becomes subconscious and automatic. What I always suggest is 1000 repetitions of a new belief every day for 100 days, after which, the new belief or thoughtform becomes self-maintaining. This seems like a lot, but you think about 100'000 thoughts a day, and how many of them are positive? 1000 a day is enough to anchor your mind onto something new and better for you.
In the first couple of days, you are planting seeds in your mind. You may have a lot of doubts, or think you are wasting your time, but what I say is " don't worry about doubts or results, just do. " After 3-4 days, you get a TIPPING POINT. This is the moment where your thoughts are starting to become habitual, and your reality begins to change. You will get what are called SYNCHRONICITIES. Events, developments, feelings etc, which are relevant to the new belief you are using. So for instance, if you have been focusing on attracting money, you might find a bank note on the ground. If you have been thinking about getting a new job, you might see an advert saying that it is on its way. If you have been working on self-esteem, somebody may compliment you. Those sorts of things. These indicate that your new belief is now starting to work, and that you should keep at it.
Psychic momentum works incrementally, things relevant to your belief build up, and you start attracting things which are bigger and bigger, and more and more relevant to your goal. Keep at it for the full 100 days (tick them off on a calendar). Repetition also helps you to go beyond your doubts, because the more you focus on something, the more you believe it and the deeper it gets rooted in your mind.
Synchronicities also help because when they start coming, you start feeling that your goal is only a matter of time away, and your mind also pulls up similar thoughts and feelings to the anchor thought. So using our example of money, you attract the coin on the ground, then the bank note, then the pay rise, then you may inherit something, then you may get a better-paying job, and things build like that. Within a couple of years, you may have gone from feeding off scraps to being quite wealthy, as long as you are focused more upon wealth than lack of it.
This doesn't mean though that all you have to do is think the thoughts. Those are the start-off point, but you also need to take action - however, the action is not random, you get help with it. Another type of synchronicity is guidance, so once you start using a thought, you attract EVERYTHING YOU NEED FOR ITS FULLEST MANIFESTATION. All resources, all contacts, all guidance, and you are also shown which action to take. Basically, the Universe provides the hoops and you jump through them, and any action you do take will be inspired action, not the scary, head-against-brick-wall stuff.
Now you say you have had anxiety and have suffered from depression, so what thought could be best for you to use? Depression is a very deep feeling of hopelessness, so you need a new belief which gives you some hope. How about I TRUST IN JOYFUL PROGRESS? Give this a go (1000 times a day for 100 days) and see what starts happening in your life. Small instances of 'progress' will come at first, and then bigger and more relevant ones will come as the momentum starts building. You will probably find that life starts opening up for you, and what may have caused you anxiety and feeling closed-in before, will start improving and getting healed.

I do believe the book is a crock of hooey, and that the author is banking on people's unhappiness to get rich... but! I do think the powerful message of thinking positively is a good message. You shouldn't ignore reality and just imagine things into existence, but fixing on a goal and not being deterred by naysayers is a good way to move forward. THERE ARE ALWAYS NAYSAYERS. What you have to do is determine what you want, if it's feasible to attain, make a roadmap to get there, and remain positive and on course. Whenever you veer off course or get hit with self-doubts, you need to refocus, repurpose, and examine what it takes to get back on track. People think when they don't achieve their goals in a timely manner that the whole thing is a wash. Positive thinking allows you to reexamine and understand that life has all sorts of setbacks and that getting off track doesn't mean you're back to square one.
The biggest danger in a book like this is setting unrealistic expectations for yourself. Rather than simply wishing/envisioning/praying (in essence, that's what it's advocating), you should examine and plan. PLAN. Planning is good, because you can have smaller goals as building blocks to the big goals, and they help you to measure how far you are, and give you a sense of accomplishment along the way.
That doesn't mean you shouldn't visualize what you want. It just means understand that the visualization is a way to keep track of what you want, and give you the drive to get there.

Whats up Tee?!
First of all, don't listen to the people on her saying that this stuff doesn't work - they're ONLY saying that because they either haven't applied it themselves or they applied it half heartedly for a week or 2 and it didn't work for them - so they're telling you it's not going to work.
Let me tell you this, people like Will Smith, Wayne Rooney, Napoleon Hill, Tony Robbins - may not have listened to Rhonda Byrnes 'The Secret' to get to their success but the concept of 'everything starts in the mind' applies to all of their successes.
Secondly, these doubts that are coming in to your head are called 'Limiting Beliefs' - you are having these because of the way you've been conditioned by society, your friends, family and past experiences.
But there are a ton of ways to get rid of them;
- Affirmations
- Visualization (my personal favorite)
- Hypnosis
- Results (my other personal favorite)
You see, people look at the Secret and think "oh cool, all I have to do is think about what I want - hope for it enough and I'll get it" - that's just wishful and thinking and that ISN'T how it works.
You HAVE to take action as well, but by believing it first and then taking action - you will become more certain in what you are doing, take bigger action, get more results and become even more certain.
It is a process, but stick with it and you will achieve anything you set out to.

The book is a fraud to gives sheep a false sense of confidence, this book will not help you because whatever progress you make you will always have a nagging feeling telling you that it is fake and once you realise this all the mind games you set up break and your back to square one after falling so far making your confidence even worse.
