Why are the american people so divided?

The federal government has expanded tremendously. Normally each state determines many of the things the federal government is now taking over in everything from education, to drinking water, to school lunches, to health care. Each state is different but with the government forcing all to be under one big umbrella, it is actually affecting people's lives in ways that it never has before in this nation. This isn't just about different ideas. Its about changing people's lives in ways they don't want them to be changed. Its deeper than opinions.

Kids are hungry because of the school lunch program. They go home and complain. People are very anxious about the cost of their health insurance in the coming months. People are having their hours cut due to the ACA and families already realize they may be covered under different, more costly insurance. Even the light bulbs make it difficult to see at night. The electric provider constantly watching your power usage, comparing you to neighbors, coming to your door to go through your house to reduce your bill. With Medicare, people calling all the time to inform you of this or that. I have never had so much government intrusion into my life as in the last few years.

Then knowing NSA is keeping records on each and every one of us. IRS discriminating. Journalists illegally wire tapped and even our representatives. The military just allowing their people to die (Benghazi) but no explanations are forthcoming. The political conversation stopped by claiming racism. There is a push to eliminate Christianity from this country, immorality called a right without thought of how it will affect our society and future generations, a domestic military having military exercises over our major cities, drug cartels doubling in our cities over the last 5 years, and on and on and on. Do you not see what is going on right in front of you? Divided is understatement for what is happening to this country.

We are divided because it serves a purpose. Figure out who benefits from it and you'll be ready to start fixing it. People have always had different opinions and had an uneasiness of those that were different. But recently, even the most trivial of differences seems to make people enemies. Even with our 21st century "enlightenment" we still can't get along.

We aren't. All liberals hate conservatives.
