38 weeks pregnant and I burned my thumb pretty bad?

So I know this sounds completely unrelated with each other but basically, I was at work on my lunch break heating up cup noodles in the microwave and while taking it out, my thumb completely poked through the cup! I followed the directions and everything so idk why the cup had a weak spot. I ran it under cold water immediately for like 5-10 min and I put burn cream on it and I put a non stick gauze pad on and wrapped it with a bandage. It's been 5 days since, it blistered up pretty bad but it doesn't hurt anymore at all, I've just been keeping it dry and changing bandages every day. I thought it was healing well UNTIL my boss tells me a story about her sister burning her finger, she didn't go to the doctor and ended up getting an infection which caused her to lose her baby at 5 months. Am I being a little over dramatic for asking this? This is my first baby and so close to delivering I don't want anything to happen to her, all the burn looks like is a couple of big blisters. Help?!

Well honey I think youll be fine since its not hurting, and it sounds like your baby will be coming soon so congratulations on that! (: Of course you're being overdramatic you don't want your baby to be hurt.

But just keep what your doing, and if it starts going downhill just go to the doctor right away but I think you will be fine. Your bosses sister probably burned herself very bad even worse than you, and probably didn't do what you did such as take care of it right away, still I'm not saying anything bad about your boss but she could be being dramatic about too you know?

I think if it just looks like blisters already it'll be okay, just make sure when its not as bad to let it get air. Make sure to take vitamins and stuff and drink a lot of water as well. If it starts getting pussy or something use peroxide or something like that.

    Congratulations and good luck <3

When in doubt, go see the doctor. If you do get a nasty infection, it could hurt you, your baby, you could lose your finger.. (Depending on how severe the infection is, of course!) As long as you've been keeping it clean, you should be fine. Something like neosporin will help keep infection away too. But if it starts pussing at all, it's a sign of infection. Blisters are best if kept un-popped so they don't expose open skin, which would be another avenue for an infection to start.

But if you have any concern at all, go see the doctor. It's much better to be safe than sorry.

Also, side note, it's better to keep a burn moist rather than dry. Keeping an ointment or burn cream on it is best.
