If there's a nursing shortage, why is it so difficult to geting into a nursing program?

Apparently, there are plenty of people studying to be nurses, so why is there a nursing shortage?

Not sure about the area where you live, but in this area there hasn't been a shortage for the last ten years. Also, nursing programs have always been competitive (regardless or whether or not there is a shortage) and the programs all have very specific entrance requirements and pre-requisites. Good Luck.
