Can my boyfriends father claim our child?

I am 23, and a full time student, with no income just lones and grants.

My boyfriend is unemployed for the year of 2013 with no income. We both live with his father and he is the only one working in the household. Can he claim our 1 year old child on his tax return? What should we know.

Yes. If he is supplying your child with all of his food and shelter, then he can claim your child. (I think the real percentage is something around 50% or more of your childs care) That is probably met by the housing alone.

I think that if he provides most of the support financially he might be able to.
