To those who don't believe in a God, where do you think we go after death?

I'm curious to evolutionists thoughts or beliefs on where our "energy" (body, soul and spirit) goes after death.

Seriously, if you believe we "evolved" from a rock or mass of goo, do you believe that's what we return to?

Update:

This question was not meant to be "arrogant"... so thank you "Mackey", "Delta" and "No Chance Without:" for answering sincerely, without sarcasm...I really appreciate your input.

FIRST..... I have a different approach......I believe in evolution AND God.....evolution is just God's way of creating

SECOND.....How do I explain the Bible ...... If you are going to talk to a Greek.....you talk in Greek..... The same concept applies to the Bible....God spoke in words and concepts the average person understands..... early people would not comprehend.....eons.....but they understood "seven days"....

creating by evolution would be beyond those people's comprehension.... but "making" something is within their sphere of knowledge

But to answer your question.....from the ones I have talked to..... non-deists believe you return to your base elements....(rot)...... Einstein theorized that energy changes form but is never destroyed.... atheists believe you decompose into your base elements and become some other form of energy ( dirt, worm food.....etc)

I believe there is more to it than that....

    Nowhere.

There is no soul or spirit apart from configuration of cells, chemicals, and electrochemical impulses in the brain. You might as well ask where does the operating system go when a computer is crushed to dust or burnt to vapors. The body whether it is buries or blown to bits too small to bury, decomposes, and that is that.

    >Seriously, if you believe we "evolved" from a rock or mass of goo, do you believe that's what we return to?

Ashes to ashes and dust to dust.

Everyone can have all the theories and beliefs they like, but, we will all only, 100%, know the answer to what happens when we die, the day, we ourselves actually die!

I myself, think we all end up in a box in the ground, or in an urn on the mantle piece.

Even the bible says 'dust to dust' 'ashes to ashes'. If not, then what is Ash Wednesday all about in the catholic church?

However, If i come back as a dolphin, or am able to fly around the sky all day as a spirit, cool! :)

If energy cannot be destroyed, then our consciousness or energy or soul or spirit or whatever you call it, should be transformed or converted into something.

I have rejected the concept of heaven and hell, because it seems illogical to me. If so many living beings exist, is there a separate heaven and hell for all of these beings? How does a cockroach be good or bad to get into heaven or hell?

I am considering oblivion or reincarnation. I am still undecided.

I don't believe in soul/spirit. I'm not saying it is impossible for them to exist, but I've never seen anything to suggest that either are real.

As for when we die, my view is that we'll cease to exist. It would be like the time before we were born.

The matter and energy that constitutes our body will decay break down or be converted into other forms, becoming something new, just like it did when it was converted into us when we were mere cells splitting in a womb.

We do not go anywhere, because we cease to exist at death. Our energy is dissipated as heat. Our bodies are buried. We have no souls.

"Seriously, if you believe we "evolved" from a rock or mass of goo, do you believe that's what we return to?"

If you want to put it in that rather childish manner, then yes. It is not much different from "dust to dust", is it?

Our physical bodies, yes. They will return back to rock and mass of goo.

I do believe that we are eternal, mental beings and that there is a soul/spirit/energy. The pineal gland (3rd Eye) secretes DMT during REM sleep, OOBE's, NDE's, and Death. Ancient Buddhists believed that the soul enters the fetus at 49 days (7 weeks) in the womb. It has recently been proven that the pineal gland secretes DMT at 49 days in the womb.

The pineal gland is believed to be the seat of the soul. The portal back to wherever it is we come from. "Energy cannot be destroyed, nor created." Our bodies/minds run off of energy. The energy located in our pineal gland is zapped into us at 49 days in the womb, the other energy is located on this planet...everything we consume and light gives us energy to move and function properly. When we die, the energy from this world, will return to this world. The energy in our pineal gland, will return to wherever it came from.

In a sense, we are eternal beings because we are ran off of energy that "cannot be destroyed, nor created."

Secretion of DMT in the pineal gland is a sign of the 3rd Eye being activated. A chance for our soul/spirit/energy to leave our physical bodies.

As for death...we live in an infinite universe, thus creating infinite possibilities when it comes to the afterlife. Right now, I am leaning more towards Buddhism and reincarnation. There may be more to the afterlife, but we will one day experience it for ourselves.

Most people don't believe in reincarnation, due to there being more born here. They do not realize "infinite". There are other worlds, and other dimensions.

Heaven and Hell concept: When it comes down to it, we are all the same. Atheists, religious, non-religious, spiritual etc. A single belief or disbelief isn't going to separate us in the afterlife. I believe in good and bad deeds and anyone can do good or bad.

Heaven: Done good in your life, happy, loving person. (I believe when the "good" people die, they get to have a positive experience for 49 days in some sort of spiritual realm.)

Hell: Done bad in your life, murderer, rapist, hurtful, straight up mean with no good. (I believe when the "bad" die, they get to have a negative experience for 49 days in some sort of spiritual realm.) And if their karma did not have time in 49 days to complete, it will follow them to their next physical body.

There will be many more people in the neutral zone. People that have done good and bad. They will also have a negative experiences in the 49 days, until it has been completed and then will get whatever time is left out of the 49 days to experience the positive before being reincarnated.

The atoms that make up the body get absorbed into the soil. The energy generated by the body, the electrical impulses it uses as thoughts etc, dissipates into the atmosphere as heat. And we return to the whole ecosystem that is the earth.

  • After death we go straight in the coffin and nowhere else. There is no magical land with unicorns and rainbows for us atheists. And there definitely isn't a place where a big red guy with horns punishes us for no good reason.

Where does the energy in a light bulb go when power to the light bulb is cut off? Our enery does exactly the same thing.
