what are the pros and cons of owning a vizsla?
I want to get my bf a dog .... hes owned bird dogs and coon hounds and worked them in the past ..... he wants a dog he can work on an irregular basis ... i want a dog who will be a good companion to my 3 y/o male akita ..... hes done well in the past with smaller female dogs . I also want a dog who can keep up with my very hyperactive two y/o daughter .... i my self and not very active but that has to do with my lazy akita who hates the heat and dose not want to take long walks with me ... do u think a vizsla ill work in our family

Vizsla is a reasonable choice, so is a Brittany. Just to check - your boyfriend wants a dog and is involved in this decision-making, yes? Dogs make lousy gifts, and if he has had hunting dogs in the past he might be very partial toward or against certain breeds based on his preferred game and style/method of hunting.
DO note that any dog that can work in the field for 12 hours is going to need regular physical and mental exercise - i.e., an hour or more a day of fetch or jogging, or 1.5-2 hours of walking, plus some training time, but the Vizsla and Brittany are more adaptable than some breeds to also being a family companion.

Yes. I think that's the dog that was bred to keep the gypsies' kids in camp and not let them run away.
I know a guy who has one, They're great dogs. Nice disposition. Obedient. Playful. Active. The vizsla can work when you want. They need room to run.
