Any Good Character Name Ideas?
I need some name ideas for a seventeen year old witch in the book I am writing. Her parents are very old fashioned so I want a name that is unique (not to the extreme) and propre but has a cute nickname. Either that or maybe something to do with nature.
The character is a brunette girl with wavy, light brown hair and hazel eyes. I don't know if thats helpful or not.
Thanks! :)

What I typically do when writing a story, is look up names in a baby name book. Most baby name books can give you background information about the name, such as alternate spellings, origins, meanings, etc. If you want your character to have a modern name, look for a book only a few years old. If you want your character to have a name with closer popularity to their supposed birth year, do the math, and then look up baby names that were popular, or unpopular, during that year. You can find baby name books in stores or yard sales. Also, there's Google! Search popular baby names of that year, and you can find official popularity lists. Find one that matches your characters personality, or captures whatever your wishing to create. Also, consider your reading audience: how will they react to the name you pick? It may not have to be perfect, but don't let your imagination run too wild. Hope I helped!
