Why don't People listen to the laws for cats?

We have laws in our county that cats have to be tied up just like dogs if they are outside. Why do people let their cats run free when they should be following the laws?

Why doesn't animal control do anything about this too. Our animal control is like, if you haven't caught this cat then we aren't coming out there to get the cat. But if it is a loose dog, they come out right away. Strange really. Why can't people just follow the laws for animal. We have to many strays here, more than we can handle. And there are about 3 cats with collars but they run loose. I understand people think of cats as wild like animals, but there is laws why not follow them.

My 6 cats stay indoors because I don't want them to be tied up like dogs, my dogs live indoors too. We have a tie up law too for dogs, but people don't care they let them run loose too. The other reason we have in door cats, is there are so many stray dogs, if a cat was tied up there is no hope for the cat to get away from the dog that is loose. I care for my animals, why don't some people?

Thanks for the tips on why people are so rude about the laws on animals.

    Entitlement Syndrome

They think they are super special snowflakes that can do what ever they want. They let their dogs run lose to bite someone, attack someones' pet or livestock, be ran over or shot and don't care. At worse they refuse to take responsibility for it

cat are not like wild animals. They are just as domesticated as dogs and have no place what so ever in nature. Get live traps and start trapping strays that come on to your property and haul them off to AC. Most people rather let their cats roam to be ran over, be poisoned, get killed by wild animals and dogs, be pests then bother to be a responsible owner

There are no federal laws that state this in the US Canada or the Eoropean union. What country are you talking about??

I care for my animals, why don't some people?

HOW DARE YOU IMPLY that cause a person that thinks it is right that an animal should feel grass on it's feet and a breeze on it's whiskers that people don't care for their cats. I would bet that you feed dry food.

I would just believe that you were ignorant about what a cat should eat not that you just don't care

fwiw all my cats came to me as strays and all have been fixed and are healthy and allowed outside as they wish but have to be in when people are away more then 6 hours and at night before bed. They always come when called.

Before you give the untrue argument that cat's live longer living just inside (no studies ever done and that figure would be biased as it would include stray cats not taken care of) I would make your argument that you should never let your kids outside cause they would live longer

If you don't have any facts to back up our argument all you are doing is expressing your own limited opinion

In many cases, people are just plain and simply not aware that there are laws on the books regulating free roaming cats. Dogs, too. We do a very poor job of communicating these laws to the public, and then when you do call animal control and they do nothing (very typical with cats, less typical with dogs as large dogs running loose can be dangerous) it does nothing to educate people about leash laws. And if people are a rule don't obey the more known laws (speed limits, pedestrians in cross walks, shoplifting and on and on) why should we think they would obey lesser know ones regarding animals :(
