Origianlly the Liturgical Language of the Church of Rome was Greek it was changed to Latin by Pope St. Victor I. As for the Greek Nicene Creed which was formulated from Scripture there was a debate since the 3rd century between the Latin Church and the Greek Church over whom the Holy Spirit proceeds from in the Greek Nicene Creed the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father the only reason why the Latin Bishops agreed upon signed with the Greek Bishops for the sake of unity of the Catholic Church whom were opposed to the Arian Bishops. But when the Archbishop of Constantinople was elevated to Patriarch and the Patriarchs of Antioch and Alexandria were claiming to be first amonst equals as the head of the Catholic Church the Latin Church decided being that this unity was broken they went with their version of the Nicene Creed in which the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son. The Latin Church Fathers were not so concerned about which Divine Person was sent by which Divine Person rather they wanted to reflect the unity of the Divine Persons working in unity as one Being while the Greek Nicene Creed does not reflect that being the Greek Church Fathers even though they too believed the Divine Persons work together in unity as one Being were more concerned about which Divine Person is sent by which Divine Person in which the Father to the prespective of the Latin Church is placed above the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Remember, the "Catholic Church" is the group of the faithful under the authority of the pope and the bishops in communion with him.

The appropriate use of the term "Roman" is in relation to the "Roman rite" -- the ritual usage of the Latin Church. The ritual books of the Latin Church are called Roman -- the Roman Missal (for Mass), the Roman Ritual (for other sacraments and sacramentals), and the Roman Pontifical (for use by bishops).

Therefore, the membership of the Latin ritual Church constitutes the vast majority of the one Catholic Church throughout the world, but there are many eastern Catholic ritual Churches in addition to the Latin Church of the west, such as Ukrainian Catholic, Maronite Catholic, etc.

Furthermore, the validity of a Catholic rite is determined by their acceptance of the pope of which resides in Rome.
