Jumping jacks as cardio?
Hey guys, I am interested in finding the optimal weight loss exercise, and the consensus seems to be that you get the most bang for your buck with jumping jacks (as in jumping jacks burn more per minute than jogging etc), my confusion comes from people also saying that the cardio is all about the length of time rather than the effort. If this is the case, it would mean that it's best to jog because you can jog longer. My question is this. If I do 150 jumping jacks every hour, (.which would be about 3 minutes each session), will it not give me good results since at no point am I having a long length? Am I better off, say jumping jacks for 20 minutes a day in one take, rather than 10 5-minute sessions a day?

Yes you would burn about 180 calories from 20 minutes of jumping jacks. It doesn't make a big difference if you do them all at once or break it up.

i love jumping jacks they work very well, i workout everyday and also do mma i am also a us soldier in the army national guard, i used to have a belly but since working out i now almost max out on all my army physical fitness tests, this is what i do. decrease intake and increase outake, i try to eat meat on my plate only the size of my fist and fill the rest of my plate with greens and rice and second dishes. eating healthy is a main factor like choosing carrots and ranch instead of chips. mainly when i workout as far as cardio goes, jumping jacks are good but what i find helps me loose weight the most (since cardio helps you lose weight more than anything) is speed ropes, as in a jump rope, you jump rope for 2 minutes everyday before you workout to get your heart rate up and you switch off left foot and rigth foot after the first minute, and then go for a run. i owe my weight loss to running honestly. i run 1.6 miles every other day hard and when i'm tired i don't walk i at least jog really slow and i've lost 8 lbs from two weeks of constant running and speed ropes. also crunches help your abs which loose weight in your stomach. i use an 8lb medicine ball and crunch from chest to my knees about 100 times but you should start lower and build up i started at 20 about 2 years ago lol. you just need to push yourself because its uncomfortable to workout. my quote that i live by is "i never said it would be easy, i said it would be worth it" and it is thanks to my six pack now lol.
