Can a cat eat chicken bones?
I have my first cat- have had him a couple years and am deeply in love. I've always owned dogs in the past (and have a lab now- she loves Cat but is suspicious of him...:).
Anyway, I never give Dog chicken bones- obviously- but is it OK for Cat to have them??
All answers appreciated!
Thank you very much Chaos, Cat and Mamma. I don't want to deprive Cat but surely do not wish to hurt him.
Interesting Cat that you are from France. I'm fascinated by certain things about your country (like your food- yuuum). If you wish to correspond with someone (female, 32, not crazy, not single:) in the US, please add detail to your answer. I'm just very curious about France and would like to ask you things- particularly about food.

My three fine healthy cats eat either raw chicken, rabbit, or turkey bones every day. Once in a while one or more of them will gnaw on raw venison, beef, or goat bones. Cats are made to eat whole prey. Nature does not make mistakes. If I were you though I would advise your friend to feed her cat the bones uncooked.

Never cooked chicken bones. They can splinter and cut the inside of a cat same with a dog. But the smaller wing bones that are uncooked can be eaten. Just don't give the cat chicken wings more then once or twice a month.

Do not feed your cat cooked chicken bones as they can easily splinter inside the cat.
You can feed your cat raw chicken bones that are ground up. I have fed my cats a raw food diet and ground up the meat and bones and the cats never had a problem.

Only raw - remember that in the wild, cats eat raw prey bones and all. Cooked bones are bad for both dogs and cats as they become brittle, and can splinter causing the shards to get stuck in the throat or intestinal tract.

Only if the bones are raw. Dogs can eat raw bones too. Raw bones do not splinter and are safe for them to eat, cooked bones do splinter and are dangrous
