Why are there so few metalheads that attend Sacramento State University?
I've been going to sacstate since the fall of 2011, with a few semesters off due to not being able to get any classes related to my major (psychology). I have only seen about 10 people walking around who might be into metal. I've seen plenty of metalheads at local shows in Sacramento who are college aged, where are they all hiding?
Is there something about this university that makes people into top 100 music and country? I seem to run into more conservatives than anyone else at this school, or they dress like they are conservatives. Are people afraid to be themselves at this school? I feel like the only metal chick on campus, or that I'm less than 1% of the students who are into metal. Anyone else from Sacramento who can tell me why there are so few metalheads who go to Sacstate?

I have no idea why there aren't more people who look like metal fans at your school. I'm on another coast. But that said...
One of the cool things about college is that you can get to know people outside of your normal social circles, as well as inside of them. Since you're so into metal, go ahead and try to meet others on campus who are. Perhaps even form a metal club, if there isn't one already there, or join the radio station with the idea of eventually going on-air as a DJ, doing a metal show. Maybe join the concert production company, and have them sponsor some metal shows on campus, which are open to both students and non-students. See what you can do to meet more people into metal.
But at the same time, be open to meeting new people, as I'm sure you are. You never know who is a closet metal-head, for one - that guy in the suit, that girl in the sorority t-shirt, you never know, because in college, you don't have to dress in any particular way just to show that you're into a specific subculture. And you might find you really like that cute guy who is into a different type of music than you are - and you have a lot in common with him, other than music. That's how I met my khakis-and-boat shoe wearing preppy husband, and why he was willing to date me, alternative girl. ;)
