I will attempt to answer logically.

I love King's novels, not because I love the horror/suspense genre but because he is very good at his craft.

I am not a member of NRA and I'll tell you why. Back in 1996 I got in a little trouble with California ("we hate guns") because the cops found a pistol I'd had in my vehicle for 15 years. Hey, it's Los Angeles, and I worked in bad neighborhoods 50 miles from home. But it violated California's anti-gun laws.

So I phoned up the NRA asking them to sell me copies of their amicus curie briefs and a nice lawyer answered the phone and proceeded to yell at me and berate me for not spending the $30/year to become a member and refused to sell me the briefs. Kinda turned me off to that lobbying org. What have they done for us lately? I don;t know; maybe a lot or maybe nothing, I am ignorant about that.

So I don;t have a dog in this fight. I do have an answer. Scare tactics? Yes.

Playing on people's fears of an oppressive government's constant diatribes and intent to violate the 2nd amendment? Yes.

Monsters in the closet? I don't need King or NRA to deal with monsters because I am a grown man and can deal with them all on my own, or get eaten in the process ;)

But I think you are making an unfair analogy.

King provides entertainment and makes his living selling books.

NRA is a lobbying org and makes their money by having the #s of voters on their list which gives them a seat at the negotiating table when it comes to dealing with legislators. So it's not the same sort of thing. You are stretching here.

For the record, the 2nd amendment guarantees a PREEXISTING NATURAL RIGHT of humans to arm themselves. Anyone messing with that is a tyrant because disarming the people, whether it was sword laws during the Samurai period in Japan or some town sheriff in the old west saying "hang your guns on the fence before you enter town to go to the saloon" is a violation of natural rights.

    King provides entertainment.

So your analogy is beyond the pail.

Which reminds me; I forgot to put the seat down ;)

The FEAR is generated by the Mainstream Media Propaganda Machine (Evening News) who leads with every horror story imaginable so they can generate a larger audience.

    The result is Obvious!

The News creates irrational Fear, NEVER comes up with any logical solutions to the problems they promote and the citizens see Failed Police Actions and dysfunctional Court systems not creating Any form of Justice, so they Know they MUST defend themselves. They have been Shown they can't rely on anyone Else to be there when needed.

Scare tactics, Fear, Paranoia? Sounds more like the Democratic party's campaign strategy.

I see you must be one of those liberal sheep that has been brain washed by the liberal gun control bigots handlers that hate to US Constitution. I doubt that I can but let me try to educate you just a little here on what the NRA is.

Actually the NRA is uniquely for the protection of our constitutional protected rights. The NRA unlike so many today isn't standing in a compromised position, and has to answer to no one. The NRA is a civil liberties organization standing stead fast for the protection of our constitutional protected rights. The NRA isn't partisan, or even bi-partition, but is doggedly focused on the protection of our individual constitutional protected rights, and one of those are the inalienable right that is protected by our constitution, and is the right to keep and bear arms.

To see this for yourself one only needs to look at the A to F rating the NRA Political Victory Fund gives politicians near election time. You will find that these grades are not partisan, but solely weight each candidates stance on our Constitution, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms without infringements.

This clear stance on principle is the reason that so many are now joining the NRA when the government is weakening individual constitutional rights. For that reason is why the liberal gun control bigots and anti-gun groups are running hate, and fear mongering campaigns against the NRA. Nothing scares these liberal gun control bigots and anti-gun groups more than a honest opponent that has principles like the NRA. The fact is that the 0bama administration has been trying their hardest to marginalize the NRA with disingenuous character attacks, as you are doing here. What they, and you are unaware of and are to stupid to figure out is that the NRA is not a single opponent, but millions of true Americans who understand and cherish these constitutional protected rights and their freedom.

So tell us, what is it you have against the US Constitution that protects the rights, and the freedom of the people?

Both have millions of fans who donate money to them because they like their work.

They both capture your imagination with fear.

But the NRA wants money and political votes.

Stephen King just wants you to read and enjoy his books.

But speaking of fear, insecurity and paranoia, what do you have against the 2nd Amendment
