Cat wrecked my home. How do I correct him?

My wife loves cats and got one without my consent ( yes some women can be very rebellious against their husbands) and she assured me after I saw the cat in our home that a cat is the cleanest animal-pet to have. I already knew what cats are capable of, but my wife argued that I don't know anything.

So, one night out in the living room watching TV i saw the cat peeing on the carpet. As you already know, cats urine is permanent on carpet and the only way to rid the outrageous, offensive and most disgusting smell is to fork out thousands out of your pocket to replace the carpet.

My wife assured me the cat was sick. We took it to the doctor and the cat was indeed sick. But does't that mean every time the cat is sick I need to replace my carpet?

So we went to carpet cleaner factories, had them professional washed the carpet for a few hundred dollars and the smell was never eliminated. So I went to carpet places to get new carpet. To my already big surprise, carpet replace was 4,000 USD.

My wife would not part ways with the cat because she said she was attached, and assured me she would pay close attention to the cat so he wouldn't pee on the carpet again. So I paid the 4,000 dollars of new carpet.

I was out in the living room again and caught the cat peeing on the carpet!!! We have 3 liters in the house that are always clean, but for odd reasons this cat loves peeing on carpets. Ho =w di I rid the cat without my wife acting stupid?

Your going to have to discipline by firmly saying no and a squirt bottle and mist it in its face once

Try this if it doesn't work theres nothing to do but either give him up or put him down

It does not cost thousands to replace a carpet. What you don't know or understand about cats would fill a binder.

http://www.catinfo.org/?link=litterbox - all the info you need to know about litterbox and litterbox problems

http://www.odoban.com/ - best product on the market. I buy mine by the jug at Home Depot in the cleaning section. There is a where to buy button on the site. You can put 1/4 cup into a 28 ounce spray bottle and fill the rest with water for using to wipe up spots and clean the litter box. Straight from the jug is good for mopping.

You can then use Febreze from the grocery store after the clean up on the carpet is dry to neutralize any remaining scent.

http://www.preciouscat.com/homepage/ - You can buy Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract litter at PetsMart. It comes in a red and black plastic bag. It is pricey because it has a pheromone in it to draw the cat. It's great for retraining a cat to a litterbox. There is an instruction booklet in the bag, read it.

If you have a male cat especially but happens with female also, and it is peeing outside the litterbox then it could be Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). It hurts the cat to pee and it associates pain with the litterbox so pees somewhere else. Have the vet rule out UTI because if it has that it needs medication.
