Is one one tablespoon of caster sugar equivalent to one tablespoon of plain sugar?

traditionally caster sugar was that which was put into a caster or shaker to be shaken over foods like pies and custards to get that sheen on them.
the measures are exactly the same no matter what sugar you use. super fine - caster, regular, or coarse - for sugar cookies etc.

To all intents and purposes, yes, The difference in grain size means that there is more caster sugar than granulated sugar in a tablespoon, but the amount is not significant for culinary purposes.
