Atheist believers in Ancient Aliens TECHNICALLY "theists?"?

Some people believe in a supernatural deity (or a million of them), others believe in no deity, still others believe in no "divine deity," but rather in ancient aliens that visited the past and were mistaken by ancient humans as gods, goddesses, demons, etc. Yes I'm talking about the Ancient Alien or Ancient Astronaut Theory. Some atheists depressingly actually believe this junk even though no real scholar supports any aspect of the theory.

Can such atheist believers in the Ancient Aliens Theory be counted as theists of some sort?

"Can such atheist believers in the Ancient Aliens Theory be counted as theists of some sort?"

No, but believers in ancient aliens are idiots of some sort. No person with a modicum of ability to think critically whether religious or not, deist, theist, atheist, agnostic or anything in between and in possession of most of the facts can sanely believe that any extraterrestrial aliens have ever visited this planet. To do so is in defiance of all rationality and known facts. The kind of critical thinking that leads to the conclusion that there are no gods usually also leads to the conclusion that visiting extraterrestrial aliens are highly improbable if not impossible.

Since children are mostly incapable of critical thought and are not in possession of sufficient facts, they tend to fall for garbage like "Ancient Aliens". You will find that most sane adults do not fall for garbage like this.

Here is a large hint. Shows like "Ancient Aliens" are made fairly cheaply to fill the massive holes in the multi-channel 24 / 7 TV schedule. The networks have to have something to fill the time and will accept anything that is in focus, with half decent sound quality that does not defame anyone who is likely to sue them in court. That is the only reason that Giorgio Crazyhair gets this garbage on TV anywhere. They do not care what is in the programs, it could be about purple dolphins with lime green polka dots growing mangoes at the South Pole. They don't care as long the audio and video are of broadcast quality and it does not defame anyone.

While I would be delighted to see evidence of intelligent alien life, the fact is there is absolutely no evidence of any sort to suggest that they have been to our planet. In fact the only reason I believe that there could be alien life is purely because the odds of us being alone are staggeringly low.

However this is not a supernatural belief, nor is it a belief that even comes close to theism. So no, people who believe in ancient aliens are NOT technically theists at all. They're just not applying the same reasoning skills that have led them to become atheists.

No self-respecting person - theist or atheist - believes that

aliens, either ancient or modern, have ever visited the earth.

To date there is not a single scrap of evidence for life

    anywhere but here!

Many people are too dull-witted to distinguish between real

    life and "Star Trek".

Well one-half of the population is under average in intelligence,

    so what can we expect?

I just wish that fewer of them were users on this site.

No. In your question you say ancient aliens "mistaken by ancient humans as gods." If there are atheists who believe extra terrestrials once visited our planet, then the idea involves natural beings who used science to get here. No supernatural belief is involved.

There is no more evidence supporting the ancient alien hypothesis then there is for a god or gods. Erich von Däniken is no less a nut job than Ken Ham.

Not at all. One is the belief that living creatures may have visited the Earth and people mistook them for gods. I don't know what level people may believe in that, but certainly it is not a belief in supernatural, so not even in the ballpark as believing in gods and goddesses.

Depends if they revere the Aliens as supreme beings or not. I'm still open-minded about 'Ancient Aliens' though, i'm going to wait until i do my own first hand research.

I have never met a single, even moderately educated atheist who believes in "ancient aliens". Don't be ridiculous.

    Do I??? I think not.

After all, there is as much evidence for Ancient aliens as there is for any god

Atheism is simply the disbelief in gods. All the other "beliefs" you address are just that beliefs and as we have seen through history mankind will believe just about anything.
