Cats: Do cats like to look at any kinds of pictures or patterns or colors? If you wanted to decorate the area where your cat sits…?
or whatever, to make it nice for him/her, do cats respond to any kind of two-dimensional designs, or art, or like bushes, or maybe mice!!! Or would certain colors be more pleasing to them? I've googled this but find nothing. Maybe they only respond to movement?

Oh, look at these links! (see the images in the first one). Also type in "cardboard box wall for cats).

I would think you would make it look natural such as an outdoor scene with plants and sky.
I would also include shelves for the cat to climb on, as well as a cat tower. Windows are important for cats because they like to look outside and putting a bird feeder outside the window would be a big plus.
Hang some strings on the walls or on the cat tower, and spray catnip spray on the cat tower.
Some cats love the running fountains to drink from.
A fish tank would provide kitty with something to look at because they like moving objects.
But, cats don't really like to be in just one room, so if you are planning on doing that, consider that your cat with his "well-decorated" room may just want to come out and visit with you!
Moreover, your cat will like it if you play with him, or just provide another cat for his amusement - as long as you introduce properly, meaning putting the newcomer in a bathroom for 2 to 4 weeks until they get used to one another.
Here is a really funny one! Just buy your cat a bird feeder and let him outside!! (lol) (Type in "birdfeeder for cats)!

You can also bring in some sort of wood with bark on it, if you know it is pest-free (but don't use insecticide on it or you will make your cat sick). Then, the cat could climb on it or use for a scratching post. They also love the large fake ficus plants, and you can often get them at your local Salvation Army for about $8.00. But, expect kitty to climb it and mess it all up! Cats also think a fake Christmas Tree was set up just for them, so . . .

Cats like to look out windows, I know that. It's nice if you can have a comfortable place for them near a window. I really don't think they care about decor.

Cars have different colour perception to people. Their eyes are tuned to see movement.
They like ca comfortable blanked or basket where they can look out of the window or be somewhere warm.

My cats love to watch the bird movies on the monitor. Sometimes they try to catch the birds.
