A charity ear-tipped a cat that was perfectly social, what should I do?
I rescued a social cat, without luck of finding its owner I decided to find him a home. But I looked for help having him neutered. There was an organization that neutered stray cats, and I specifically asked that he not be ear tipped because he was to be adopted out. And they ear tipped anyway. He is the most lovable cat and I fear that having his ear tipped will hurt his chances of finding him a home. I know it was done by a charity, but I am quite upset over this.

Most of the organizations like this have a policy of ear-tipping *all* cats that come in as strays. There is no guarantee that any of these ownerless cats aren't going to be stranded outdoors again, and then trapped again and brought in to be altered. Easy enough to tell with a male, but not so easy with a female. And any person so obsessed with appearance that they refuse a cat due to an ear tip isn't the kind of home you want for him anyway.

There is nothing that you can do - now. Chances are very high that this particular cat was caught in a trap which is intended for feral cats. The ear tipping is so authorities can tell from a distance that this cat is neutered - not necessarily just feral. This is just one additional reason why any cat that is allowed to roam around outside is prone to all the hazards.
If this is your cat and you are upset about it then be thankful that the ear tipping is all they did to him/her. A feral cat that is caught is also commonly neutered if not already done.
