Shoveling snow while on crutches?

I had surgery on my knee in November (the 5th to be exact) and the sidewalks in front of my dorm building have been plowed but still have a ton of snow on them making it hard for me and even those not on crutches to walk, I was wondering if I could shovel the rest myself while I'm still on crutches.

You'd need both your crutches to support yourself, and you'd need both legs to steady yourself as you bend, shovel, turn, and throw. The twisting movements alone could be very bad for your knee.

Get the school authorities to have someone clear the walks better, or see if one of your buddies can do it. Meanwhile, proceed very carefully on your crutches. You don't want to fall and make your condition worse. Even if you didn't fall on that knee, just getting yourself up again could make things worse. Don't try to be a hero. It would be a shame to wreck the careful surgery that was done on your knee.
