Okay so to give some more in depth information. He is going on 3 years old. He's perfectly healthy he goes in for regular vet check ups and he's an indoor baby.

When I adopted him, he was about 4 months old and in quarrantine with several other kittens who all had URI, including him. I took him home, gave him the antibiotics and his URI cleared up. I'm curious though if its possible for URI in cats to affect their purrs. His grunts are nasally and they're clearly him trying to purr because he only does it when he's getting love and you can definitely feel his soothing vibrations.

So is it possible for a former URI to affect a cats purrs? Could that be the reason why he grunts instead?
