Was this cat being a jerk or...?

About a month and a half ago I moved into a house with my 5 year old, big, fluffy, white and orange male cat, and my roommates brought their 2 year old, big, fluffy, orange male cat. For the first two weeks my kitty, Darcy, hated their kitty, stormy, but stormy was constantly following Darcy around and wanted to do everything Darcy did and wanted to be everywhere Darcy was and just loved the hell out of him (stormy had never met another cat before). Thankfully at the end of two weeks Darcy came around and now they're pretty good kitty friends.

Darcy has this blanket that he loves. He sleeps on it, he kneads it, he just chills and watches people on it, and it's never been washed because he's not a dirty kitty and we don't want to wash away his scent. Today I caught stormy rubbing himself and rolling around all over the blanket. Was stormy trying to claim the blanket or was he loving Darcy's smell?

Stormy WAS marking the blanket as his, but he wasn't being a jerk. He was just following his instinct.

Because he marked it as his doesn't mean he wants to completely take it away from Darcy, either. Sometimes cats sniff things out and then mark them as a note to themselves that they've already investigated the item and felt comfortable with it.
